Orbital Sciences Antares rocket successfully launched at 5 p.m., Sunday, April 21 from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport's Pad 0A at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. All system nominal. The Antares launch vehicle made its maiden flight Sunday, launching from Pad 0A at the Wallops Flight Facility, Va. at 5 p.m. Eastern time on a test flight that served as the precursor for a demonstration flight of its Cygnus resupply ship to the International Space Station later this year. Antares will be delivering a mass simulator payload to orbit 10 minutes after launch designed to mimic the Cygnus spacecraft's weight and characteristics.

Probably chinese lanterns or ice crystals or something ,definitely UFO's until someone can clearly identify what they are.

What astronauts say that? I just googled that phrase and, in the entire Internet, it only appears in your post on Above Top Secret.

Arken ... nice find
Not sure what those objects are ... but the timing of them appearing and the picture going out is certainly interesting !

The objects seem to be receding as the rocket passes them, so I'm thinking satellites, space junk, etc. There's so much stuff up there, it's a stretch to automatically say UFO. Keep your eyes open though, never can tell when it'll be the real thing. Nice catch.
34 Q: What have these ‘space UFOs’ turned out to be?
A: Some of them turn out to be the same things ‘ground UFOs’ have been, such as misperceived normal human flight activity, natural atmospheric phenomena [when looking downward towards Earth], window reflections, defects, or contamination, or on occasion, bright celestial objects such as the Moon and – yes! – Venus. On occasion, during night passes, astronauts on space walks in the dark have seen what turned out to be bright lights on Earth’s surface passing beneath them. Some are other orbiting space vehicles, but only rarely. Most are ‘stuff’ coming off the vehicle the observation is being made from, that flies along with the vehicle for a period of time. See the locations of these vents here: www.jamesoberg.com...
35 Q: How much of it is “space junk”?
A: Very, very little, actually – if you use the standard definition of “space junk” to mean other satellites and pieces off of them, which constitute an impact hazard to human space missions and automated satellites as well. Because all orbiting objects are moving at tremendous speeds in different directions, when they do pass closely to each other, they zip past at several miles per second. Thus they are extremely difficult to detect visually. Anything that was seen over a period of time longer than a few seconds would have to have been something closely following the observer, and thus associated with the vehicle from which the observation was being made. Now, that's unless it was somebody else’s vehicle deliberately keeping pace, of course. But "space junk" as we commonly use the term? Hardly ever, maybe never.
36 Q: How often do astronauts see passing satellites out the window, or on TV screens.
A: Astronauts have observed other distant satellites, but not often. On special research programs, some astronauts have been able to spot ‘Iridium flares’ [Don Pettit, for example]. But on occasion when the crew was advised to look for a particularly close [a few miles] pass of a large satellites, every effort to detect the fly-by visually has failed. I have never found a single case of an observed nearby object turning out to be a passing satellite in independent orbit.
The list of those who subscribe to the theory that alien life forms and UFOs have visited Earth amid a massive government cover-up is long and varied.
It includes cranks, paranoid delusionals and editors of the Daily Star (and sometimes all three).
But a Nasa astronaut who has walked on the moon? The profile of Edgar Mitchell does not conform to that of your common or garden UFO aficionado. He holds two Bachelor of Science degrees and a doctorate in aeronautics from the prestigious and not exactly tree-huggy Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Along with Alan Shepard, he holds the record for the longest moon walk - for nine hours on February 9 1971 as part of the Apollo 14 mission, making him the sixth man to walk on the moon.
Put all that together and it is no wonder that an interviewer with a UK radio station almost fell off his seat this week when he lobbed Mitchell what he thought was a throwaway question: Did he believe in life on other planets?
"Oh yes," came the reply. "There's not much question at all that there is life throughout the universe. I'm totally sure we are not alone."
"At no time, when the astronauts were in space were they alone: there was a constant surveillance by UFOs." - Scott Carpenter
Following the Gemini missions the Apollo Space Program took effect, and on 20th July 1969 the astronauts of Apollo 11 took their first steps on the surface of the Moon. Although it was claimed that nothing unusual was seen by the astronauts, rumors that the crew were "never alone" whilst on the moon began to circulate.

I suggest that maybe Jim Oberg with his NASA connections may be able to interview Scott and see whether he confirms or denies what the article in rense attributes to him as saying.

Jim,
Thanks for offering me a forum. In the past, I've not bothered to refute these and other outrageous reports of my belief in, or sightings of, UFOs (Flying Saucers). They are too preposterous to favor with credibility or honor with
reply. You however, raise a different and more important issue, that of the young kids who are not yet familiar with the power of logical thinking, who are unsuspectingly led astray by the glamour of the UFO idea, and who tend to believe the nonsense these twisted minds dream up and posit as fact on the Internet.
They claim that those who disagree, lie, and challenge us to prove that UFOs don't exist.
That's their leg up...proving non-existence is impossible.
So, Mr. Oberg, in order to help set these naive people free of the crazy beliefs they are asked to adopt, feel free to quote me as follows, (and use any adjectives you choose which are roughly synonymous with poppycock): The quote (below) is absolute hogwash and a blatant lie. I never thought it, never said it, and it never happened.
NASA's Scott Carpenter "At no time, when the astronauts were in space were they alone: there was a constant surveillance by UFOs."
I hope the two of us can help set at least some people straight.
Really enjoyed perusing your web page.
All best, and Merry Christmas
Scott

Jim. Good for you and your follow up. I wish more folks like you would challenge these guys. At least that might get some of the trash off the street.
Happy New Year.
Scott
Working through five onboard experiments dictated by the flight plan, Carpenter helped, among other things, to identify the mysterious 'fireflies' (which he renamed 'frostflies,' as they were in reality particles of frozen liquid around the craft), first observed by Glenn during MA-6. Carpenter was the first American astronaut to eat solid food in space
