The point is it allows him to save face and appear that he has done something to "keep his promise" to the victims and people of Newtown after stating he would get something done. And no actions and orders are not the same.

The guns are just a reflection of the authority the US Constitution has granted us.
Obama doesn't want to get rid of guns per se he wants to get rid of the authority the American people have over the politicians.

Personally, I think that was a promise no one can make.
There's no way we can prevent tragedies from happening. It's foolish to think otherwise. Sure, we can always be vigilant and bring wrong-doers to justice... but there will always be wrong-doers. Even if every "weapon" were to vanish tomorrow, people will still find ways to inflict harm on each other.
You simply can't delete tragedy from the human experience. It's part of the show. The world is a dangerous place, always will be.

He didn't promise to prevent another tragedy, what he promised was that he would pass legislation that would make it harder for another tragedy to occur

Sorry Beez, the Constitution grants us nothing. Our rights are inherent from our creator, not from government or a piece of parchment. The Constitution grants limits to the power of Federal government.
I know the people are supposed to have authority over our politicians but they remind me of cockroaches - you swat one another just pops up somewhere else. I disagree about the guns - he would get them out of the public's hands if he could.

Why spray bullets at Government? That's just silly.
March on Washington or Something similar. Posting whiny comments won't help.
If anything that speaks to how responsible the majority of gun owners are their first action isn't to pick up their AR's . and go spray and pray. They seek to exhaust every option before picking up one.
infringement of the second amendment going on 70+ years.
Well maybe in another 70+ years you might have "EXHAUSTED EVERY OPTION". That's how to get things done BRAVO - Slow Clap.
