seriously, America and its Allies in Europe are going after IRAN. We can not let them hi-jack the worlds oil supply. They support Terrorists, and are a major problem with the insurgency in IRAQ.

Now they are going to have NUCLEAR BOMBS with Ballistic Missiles !?!

We can not allow that coutry to get the bomb, we might not be the most responsible nation, but these guys ... with the bomb? That would be an even worse war! Because they would convince OPEC to change its currency to the EURO ... or maybe the CHINESE $$$ ??? Then our economy would crash!

I expect their to be a flare up in IRAN, within the next year ... And please god, do not let the Israelis get involved. America and Europe can handle a war against IRAN ... even if RUSSIA wants to supply them with a Nuclear Reactor, they will not go to war to save IRAN ... they would know better than that.

IRAN is located in between IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN. We can beat them, they can't fight a 2 front war.

However, to fight another war, we need to institute the draft... come on we all signed the card when we turned 18. Why do you think they made us sign the card... do you think it is because one day they would use it against us?

The selective service act has been around since 1917, way before the war on terrorism.

There is in fact a draft going on already, in the form of involuntary entensions of tours of duty. It is a more clever and devious version of a draft, but a draft nonetheless.

Well if we are going to invade Iran by land then they need to draft now and start training. They are not going to get in a land war with Iran they will just bomb the hell out of them. Then hand the country over to some appointed good guy Muslim that will give them freedom. Then the populace will over throw the new government and install yet another Muslim radical. I just love Arab mentality they like oppressive governments and believe in Alah even thou Alah continually lets the infidels had them their own ass every war. Oh except for Saladin how many years ago was that? Oh yes and they will start drafting soon they have no choice. They ruined the economy to try and get more recruits that’s not working so they have to draft soon.

Here's the facts:

If the military wants to recruit, they'll raise benefits, pay, etc. Dealing with low-morale recruits is just not fun for them, so don't count on a draft.

Reinstating a draft that has been gone for years is not good politics. Wait, did I say politics? Yes, I did! Bush CAN be taken out and stopped! Wow! I said it?! He is not some dictator despite what you all think.

Finally, the U.S. will NOT be invading Iran, I repeat, NOT invading Iran. And you can quote me on that.

Why? Because the U.S. is not some "empire-esque" country that invades when it pleases.
Truth is, there WERE intel failures regarding Iraq, (Ie leading to a messy war that followed).

The U.S. is NOT stretched guys! We have 1.7 million + soldiers. Only 160,000 are in Iraq, and the removal of troops will soon begin. It has already been announced.

This goes to show just how desperate the military is for trained specialist. The article states $120,000 tax free signing bonus. That is alot of money for just one person. How much worse will it have to get before the government starts a selective draft?

Wheat and several of his colleagues here were approached by a Navy recruiter who promised a “tax-free $120,000 bonus” if they agreed to sign on as medical consultants with a Marine Corps unit in Iraq.

The article also states that regular army are getting 20,000 to 70,000 to re-enlist after there 4 year commitments are up. It is my opinion htat if we do not get out of Iraq we will have a selective draft.

Are you positive about that 20,000-70,000 for re-inlisting after 4 years?

As it stands now, there is no such thing as a 4 year enlistment...

when you sign the dotted line you sign yourself up for 8 years (regardless of what branch...) Most of the time you do 4 years active duty, and 4 year individual ready reserve...

If you're in the IRR they can call you back to active duty at any time, just like that.

It fits with Washington's desire for maximum illegal immigration, for corporate slave labor.

It gets rid of recruitment shortfalls without having to institute the draft on American citizens.

i like this idea! So all of the illegals will be training to fight against our enemies...and the ones that survive will get full citizenship!

The thing is that the whole middle east mess is about Oil and as long as the US of A is reliant on them for Oil we will be trying to take it from them by any means necassary.

Terrorism is/was only an excuse to Take away our rights for the better good, as well as control us. - It will remain until the US of A learns to mind it's own business.

The US Should become isolationistic until it has straightened out it's own messs at home before getting involved pushing the rest of the world around.

I was just reading about Bush saying that he will stand against China if they attack Taiwan for seeking independence due to some previous agreement. Does anyone know how serious the situation is between Taiwan and China? This could also be an oppotunity for China to dethrone the US and take over as the worlds Super Power. If something does happen Bush will have no choice but to call for the draft. Without using nukes i don't see the possibility of winning a war against China.
