Thank you. It was already pointed out by someone else. It can easily be a nutjob saying this because well they are always around claiming this stuff, especially when the article states she is taljing about the event on Sunday. But in anycase I think they should try to find and question her.

You are welcome, and I did see where someone else posted it, in reading further. Either way, it's an interesting story. I HOPE this was only some nut (such aren't uncommon), but I also hope they can locate and question her, just in case. Even if not involved, she could have seen something, or heard something, or heck, dreamed about it, not had enough proof to go to the authorities, and wanted to warn people. I know my mom would have dreams, whenever a family member or friend was pregnant, about the baby - length, weight, hair and eye color, sex - and was VERY accurate, every time. She would get them 1-3 days before the birth, in the days before ultrasounds. So, I won't discount the possibility of someone dreaming about something serious.

If she'd been overheard by police, I wonder if they could have done anything anyway. If the devices were dropped shortly before, probably not.

While it's tragic what has happened why was a facebook memorial page created 8 hours before the bombs went off??

Means nothing. You can change the name of a page once created.

People freaked out because pages about these explosions started popping up that were created on Saturday. It's meaningless.

That's not good enough, there are two types of black powder AAA Powder Natural, and smokeless black powder that contains, Cordite. try again.

Pyrdoxe, is smokeless powder (cordite). It's burn rate is faster than AAA Black Powder, and that gives it more boom. But Cordite is much easier to detect.

One poster , for me , hit the nail on the head when he said that he felt that while devastating , the explosions were small and maybe they were used as a diversion from something else that may come to light in the aftermath. .

Speculative , I know , but still it's a nagging thought.

I was thinking the same thing in the early hours of this morning. The blasts were 'small' . If anyone wanted to cause mass mayhem then surely these bombs would have been huge but then again we have to take into account the area! There were loads of Security and Police about (with dogs) which meant any bombs had to be small enough so the dogs couldnt pick up the smell!!

(and if ppl smelled it in the air, why didn't the dogs?)

someone likened it to the after burn of a large fireworks display when you were close to the launching area ... is that close ?

I relate to that somewhat, but what about the speculation about a truck trying to enter the closed zone that was turned away? I dont have any clue it is just speculation or withhold info.

Section 38. The commander in chief may order out any part of the organized militia for escort and other duties including special duty and emergency assistance to state and local civil authorities in the preservation of life and property.

That is Mass. law and probably the section the Governor uses when they deploy the Guard in this manner. Also, it could be a unit based agreement between the bases commander and the persons operating the event; but more likely the use of the above section.

There are not "executive order" for the event, which leads me to believe it is a standing order or maybe even a local coordination between the event handlers and the local Guard base. Still researching that though. You would think there was some type of legislative action; unless, as I said before, it was a more local support thing, calling the guard out.

I think I will reach out to whatever command was there and ask about the general order they had on the event. Typically the base commander will also provide an order outlining their duties, hours, UoD, etc. It still isn't extraordinary, but curiosity has set in for me.

ETA: Plus I am licking wounds from a fat-fingered response on a different site where I pressed 4 instead of 1 and made me look like the donkeys I was responding too. I need redemption!

Col. James Sahady is the supposed spokesman. I don't think it is any conspiracy, it is now more a quest to find the legislative or executive action that allowed it; or what they operated under.

The first link mentioned technologies for detecting black powder in the title of a book. I need a little more than that.

The other linked videos wouldn't work, I need a little more than a title, there was no mention of which type of black powder that they were trained for AAA ( Saltpeter) or smokeless ( Cordite).

In that video it shows that the page has "186 likes", and apparently both the name of the facebook page and the URL can be changed before 200 likes.

So it is quite possible that it was an existing like page without much attention and the creator of the page thought it would be quicker to modify an unused page than create a new one.

But still, a little bit suspect.

It would be hard to tell the difference if you haven't smelled both. But you can smell the sulfur in a true black powder detonation. That is the only part that confuses me. But I have heard reports both ways.

my thoughts after having read the incoming news and comments this morning, that most of the focus has been on who perpetrated the event rather than the consequences of the said event

in my mind the main consequence of it is that there will be more boots on the street. To conduct sweeps etc

The fact that there were two bombs that exploded in close proximity makes it likely it was intentional

More bombs were found, leaving open the the possibility of other unexploded bombs (need for sweeps etc)

Due to a marathon being so long we could imagine this taking place throughout the whole length of the marathon and surrounding areas. Not sure how much of Boston the marathon runs through. Not only that but it can also extend to any city that runs a marathon. I am not sure how many that is but I imagine it could be a lot.

So the end result is lots of cities with police or even possibly the military in the streets.

Synchronizing it with the North Korea threats could just be a way of further distraction.

I could be wrong about all of this but thats my thoughts at this moment.

I heard about the truck too but thought reports said it was carrying supplies??

Going back the size of the bombs and smell... maybe whoever did it used something to hide the smell... maybe even dog poo!! Then again dog poo would have got the attention of the dogs!!

So some other strong smelling substance like strawberries or mint etc etc...

I agree totally and this is why I think the bomber was in the area within minutes prior to the blast . He/she couldn't risk the device being found so it would have to have been planted only minutes before detonation . This is also making me think there is more than one bomber involved.
I think the second bomber would have had to have been lurking around the Starbucks area while awaiting , maybe a cellphone call with instructions to detonate .
