Oh wow... Prior to giving up drinking sugary drinks I had indeed been drinking diet pop with aspartame in it - it had such terrible effects on me that I was warned by a doctor that I would be much safer drinking real sugar drinks (liquid candy as he put it) than thinking I was doing myself well by drinking "diet" drinks!
Coincidentally, I drink a few cups of coffee a day and lo and behold.. thinking I would do myself a favour by not using sugar, I use 1 sachet of Splenda. Going to stop using that right away, I'd be so happy I could cry if that was the problem all along, THANK YOU!
*edit*
Sorry got so excited there I forgot to address the rest of your post:
I actually do have some oil of oregano due for delivery tomorrow so I will be giving that a try - I'll see if I can find the fortified vitamin C compound
Thank you againedit on 14-4-2013 by hombero because: excitement makes the mind forget

Dear fellow members,
I have been lurking ATS for many moons, but hadn't registered until recently. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to contribute too much to the excellent discussions by you all, that I enjoy reading every day - I try to refrain from posting unless I feel that I have something worthwhile to say
I am creating this post today (I think it may only be my second, though hopefully not my last), to let my fellow members know that I am unwell. Both physically, and emotionally as for the past 14 months I have been followed by a mysterious illness.
The primary issue with ammonia toxicity is that ammonia is toxic to the nervous system including the brain. If too high it can swell the brain and induce a coma and death, which is what happened to an old friend of mine. So this is a very serious condition if high. In levels lower than needed to induce a coma high ammonia can lead to lowered ATP levels in the brain and inhibition of some neurotransmitters that result in decreased brain function. The other problem with excess ammonia is that the ammonia can transport excess tryptophan across the blood-brain barrier possibly leading to anorexia.

What are your tests showing?
Have you got an ammonia serum test done? I myself have the ammonia issue and get crazy headaches from it.
Here is a great post from a friend of mine

JrDavis... just curious... are you a doctor, or organic chemist?
It would be unwise to start ADDING things to this equation without knowing what a clinician knows in detail after an assessment.

I'd test your water supply for heavy metals!
Best of luck figuring it out though, sounds like you've had a tough run of it.
