Oh wow... Prior to giving up drinking sugary drinks I had indeed been drinking diet pop with aspartame in it - it had such terrible effects on me that I was warned by a doctor that I would be much safer drinking real sugar drinks (liquid candy as he put it) than thinking I was doing myself well by drinking "diet" drinks!

Coincidentally, I drink a few cups of coffee a day and lo and behold.. thinking I would do myself a favour by not using sugar, I use 1 sachet of Splenda. Going to stop using that right away, I'd be so happy I could cry if that was the problem all along, THANK YOU!

*edit*
Sorry got so excited there I forgot to address the rest of your post:

I actually do have some oil of oregano due for delivery tomorrow so I will be giving that a try - I'll see if I can find the fortified vitamin C compound

Thank you again

With oil of oregano I did not use this each day. It's pretty powerful stuff. I used it about 3 times a week. It does not take much. Also, be cautious with it if you have high blood pressure, because it can raise it up high in some folks. Just a couple of drops under the tongue will do. My boyfriend has used it to kill strep throat.... it's pretty good stuff.

The white stuff on the back of the throat could be pockets of infection or a type of thrush (yeast). Oil of oregano could help with this. (again I'm not a doctor so you should check in w/ someone if you can)

I like purple vortex's suggestions too. When we have been sick for so long we need a holistic healing of mind body and spirit.

First of all, I am not a medical professional. Second, relax. If the swellings are on the same side as the wisdom tooth extraction I would suggest seeing a dentist. It might be an small abcess that presses on nerves in the jaw and neck causeing the head pain. Also grinding your teeth could be a factor. Diagnosing yourself is not recommended as we tend to focus on the worst possible diseases and outcomes. Simple explainations are usually correct. I've been through it. Let us know if you find out anything!

Sorry to hear that you are having some very tough times health-wise! I just thought i'd chime in as a few of your comments made me think of some things.

Firstly, the white stuff at the back of your throat - is it right at the back or is it in the sides of the throat? I was thinking that maybe you have tonsil stones possibly but I could be off without seeing what it looks like.

Secondly, the smell of ammonia that you are smelling - this could be way off but in my first aid training, they say that a symptom of hyperglycaemia is the smell of acetone on the breath plus tiredness, hot dry skin etc. Have you checked your blood sugar levels? Apologies if you have already done this and I missed it.

Anyway, good luck and hope a part of the puzzle gets solved very soon!

What jumps out at me is Multiple Sclerosis. Your age is classic onset period, vision problems, profound fatigue. Even a Neurologist takes much investigation to render a final diagnosis on MS. Other symptoms for MS are widely varying but a general indication of weird, baffling symptoms is consistent with MS. One doesn't necessarily have to have white lesions on the brain or spinal cord, but they are classicly indicated in MRI tests. If diagnosed, the sooner the better with treatment. The cause of MS is unknown, but my theory is prion infection of the Central Nervous System. Check out the Neurology Forum on Healthboards.com. Good luck.

Dear fellow members,

I have been lurking ATS for many moons, but hadn't registered until recently. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to contribute too much to the excellent discussions by you all, that I enjoy reading every day - I try to refrain from posting unless I feel that I have something worthwhile to say

I am creating this post today (I think it may only be my second, though hopefully not my last), to let my fellow members know that I am unwell. Both physically, and emotionally as for the past 14 months I have been followed by a mysterious illness.

Hey man is there a way to contact you? I myself have these same exact issues. However I need to know more about yourself such as diet and exercise. I really don't want to weed through these pages and read the bad advice.

However I too have issues with ammonia. This is caused by protein in your liver not being digested properly. The protein causes ammonia when digested. Also you could be struggling with a parasite infection. Parasite's when they die and when they remove waste they increase a HUGE amount of ammonia.

The counter to this (Let's say it's not parasites at the moment) is L-Ornithine, This is a free form Amino Acid. Which helps the urea cycle.

I will not recommend you taking any type of drug, From any doctor. Other than Lactolose. Which is a sugar that cannot be digested. It will remove ammonia from your body a lot quicker than amino acid.

L-Ornithine should also be taken with L-Aspartate. You can do L-Ornithine, Magnesium and Potassium Aspartate.

What are your tests showing?

Have you got an ammonia serum test done? I myself have the ammonia issue and get crazy headaches from it.

Here is a great post from a friend of mine

The primary issue with ammonia toxicity is that ammonia is toxic to the nervous system including the brain. If too high it can swell the brain and induce a coma and death, which is what happened to an old friend of mine. So this is a very serious condition if high. In levels lower than needed to induce a coma high ammonia can lead to lowered ATP levels in the brain and inhibition of some neurotransmitters that result in decreased brain function. The other problem with excess ammonia is that the ammonia can transport excess tryptophan across the blood-brain barrier possibly leading to anorexia.

curezone.com...

If you are sure you are having ammonia issues.

L-Ornithine
Magnesium & Potassium Aspartate
Glutamine (If you are not having bad liver issues)

Also exercise. You are very lucky you still sweat, Because I have high potassium levels I do not get to sweat that much.

It's hard to suggest to you what supplements to take to counter-act what's going on. The above is safe to use with the noted citations.

If you can PM me your tests, if you are comfortable with that. Than I can help you further.

Also you much quit eating gluten. You could be having an autoimmune response.

The lymph node swelling means that your liver is having a hard time digestion and removing toxins. So it goes to your lymph nodes.

Now I am a firm believer that they are spraying us and putting environmental toxins into the air.

I would quit smoking, This too could cause you to be getting swollen lympnodes.

Whether it's bud or cigs. They both can be contaminated and we don't get much oxygen as it is.

If you are serious about taking back your health. Look into getting a Dr Beck Blood Electrification device. This will protect you against every disease, Clear your blood of Mycoplasma, and return you to the "Immortal Blood" that you had when you were born.

You also want to get a Magnetic Pulsar, And an Enaly Ozone generator. The ozonated water will allow you to remove toxins very quickly from your body and also increase the oxygen in your cells. Which has a lot of benefits within itself.

So to sum it up (remember you can PM me)

L-Ornithine
L-Aspartate in the form of Mag and Potassium Aspartate.
Glutamine (If you are not having serious liver issues)
Blood Electrification device; Such as Sota instruments, Or godzilla if you wish to make it yourself
Magnetic Pulsar, To remove virus', bacteria, disease from deep tissue, And remove Mycoplasma from Red Blood cells.
Enaly Ozonator, For ozonated water - Or a ozone pump that does 300mg/hr
Clean Chlorella - Which removes heavy metals from the body.

If you take it all seriously, Look into liver flusher and GB flushing too.

Good luck, Remember that although our physical bodies are abused almost everyday. It's our spirit that keeps us going!

OP... sorry to hear about your health troubles.

Are you sleeping anywhere near a wifi, cell phone, cordless phone, smart meter?

What is happening between 4 and 5 on these days?

Have you been tested by an MD that SPECIALIZES in Lyme disease? If not... stay on it.

Lyme is very difficult to nail down a diagnosis on. You will want to be triple certain it's not Lyme. Get at it and good luck!

JrDavis... just curious... are you a doctor, or organic chemist?

It would be unwise to start ADDING things to this equation without knowing what a clinician knows in detail after an assessment.

I appreciate your concern for the OP!

The supplements I advised are of no worry for concern health wise. Aside from the glutamine, Which I did put caution too.

The L-Ornithine is a Free Form amino acid. There is no real concern for this. You can get it at Vitamin Shoppe in 500mg capsules. Unless the op is using it above 5,000mg (Which I highly doubt lol) then there really is no need to be worried.

The Magnesium and Potassium Aspartate is also fine! The Aspartate removes ammonia from the brain specifically.

When I was reducing my ammonia from my body (I would sweat and smell like onions, I don't even eat onions! Since Onions, and Garlic are a neurotoxin. Due to the Sulphone Hydroxyl Ion) I noticed the ornithine wasn't quite doing it. So I had to add the Aspartate to the equation to remove the ammonia from the brain to reduce swelling.

This also can be found at Vitamin Shoppe. In 100mg Mag/ 90mg Potassium.

Unless Op is on dialysis, which he didn't state (I think that would of been significant. "Hey guys I'm on Dialysis") the Mag and Pot - Aspartate is completely fine following the recommended dosage on the bottle.

A lot of us are Mag deficient anyways. Wonder why people get muscle aches?

He also said he sweats. Which means his potassium is within range too. Potassium lowers blood pressure.

Too low of blood pressure and you get the issue I have. You feel cold a lot and can't sweat to save your life.

If you have low blood pressure you take Licorice Root. Which also are beneficial to your adrenals, and reduce potassium levels. But if you take Licorice root you must watch your potassium level.

But yeah the other stuff such as blood electrification and magnetism wont really be discussed by a doctor lol.

They will diagnose you with psychosis.

Do you own or have you been exposed to a cat?

The symptoms very much match up with Cat Scratch Fever. ( And, no, this is not a Ted Nugent based joke, it's a real illness ). I am not current on the treatment, but it used to require a lymph biopsy for conformation.

From th symptoms your describing it could be the effects of a impacted wisdom tooth. Although, with all the tests and MRIs you've have, you would thought they would pick something like this up. Have you been to the dentist? My
impacted wisdom tooth gave me hell for months.
Don't lose faith you'll find out what it is soon and it will be dealt with, then hopefully u can go back to enjoying your life.

You know....

About a year ago now I had almost the exact same thing happen to me... I had no idea what was going on and I became VERY depressed. I laid in bed all day, every day and tried to sleep at least 16 hours a day... I felt the mysterious illness/depression for about 6 months and then it just seemed to go away just as fast as it came.... Smoking is probably not helping though but you should try an e cigarette if you are having trouble quitting. You can still get your nicotine fix and not have any of the negative health effects... I have been using them for 3 years now and I love it.

My wife is a medical professional and she thinks that because of the fact that it happens at the end of the day means that it is probably environmental. Mold/Mildew, lead paint, dirty vents, pests, something outside that you are exposed to daily, etc... in your home or place of work.
She thinks that maybe and antihistamine like benadryl is worth a shot to see if it helps at all. You should go to a hotel for a week and see if you get better. Don't take anything from your house with you there and buy a fresh set of clothes to wear that has never been in your house. If you get better than you have your answer. Professionals can come and analyse your house for environmental dangers. Also try to remember if anything in your life has changed lately... no matter how small or stupid it seems...even things like switching soap brands or fabric softener...

I hope you get better =)

Best of luck figuring it out though, sounds like you've had a tough run of it.

I agree with the water thing.

Could also be something else you take around the same time. Your body will react and try to warn you if you keep on taking in toxins, especially if taken around the same time. If you insurance allows it, next time these symptoms show up head immediately to the emergency room - give them your symptoms and demand blood work to be done.

I once had a bad reaction to INH, but when I went and got my monthly checkup nothing showed on my tests. It was only when I get incredibly weak did I head to the ER...my liver blood count thingy was through the roof. I also got sick around the evening time, the time I would take the INH...but I would get sick right before taking the pill.
