What exactly would Iran do? A war in Korea will not draw off enough of the US Navy to close the straights. The US forces already in the Gulf will not be going to Korea. The IDF will not be going to Korea. The militays of the Gulf states will not be going to Korea. In all what Iran could do for Korea is far less than they have managed to do for Syria. Thier are certain military realities and one of them is all Iran would do is make itself a target.

The best I can offer is....ditto. Seriously, MrSpad nailed it here.

So what?

My theory to this is that Iran have just admited to having ties with North Korea and to be having Militry and balistic missile tech from North Korea. If they are getting there know how from North Korea then taking the North out will also weaken Iran as Syria is not really working out the way that everyone expected.

Thats just my opinion.

Well with NK and Iran, if we don't do something about them now before they get too powerful then it will be bloody for our kids to handle. You got to figure these two countries will not play ball with the rest of the world ever, so conflict is inevitable. We should deal with them now while we can, otherwise as time goes by they will get more powerful and build up their forces and then praise Alah/God when they come out screaming.

Well, Ol Bushie boy number 2 called it, they are both part of his "axis of evil" aren't they? I can't believe that moron got something right.

But really it is not surprising, The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that jazz....

But still, its not like they can really do anything to actually help. They aren't exactly neighboring countries.

While a pretty terrible thing in our past, I wouldn't say US has a 'history' of dropping nuclear weapons. Nope, just one event.

Excuse me, how many events do you need? And don't forget, while US has no history of dropping nukes, is the only country in human history who has nuked another country.

P.S. I rest my case!!!

Meanwhile the German foreign minister has said Germany will stand in solidarity with Japan

www.japantoday.com...

Japan can count on German solidarity in the face of escalating tensions on the Korean peninsula, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said on Tuesday, as North Korea stepped up its saber-rattling. “There is a clear message from the government of our country… that Japan can count on solidarity and other peaceful countries can count on that solidarity,” Westerwelle told journalists in The Hague.

North Korea gets Iran and the USA has Japan and China as a backup and people think they will do damage?

China is sick of fatboy Un, Japan has bolstered it's stance......

This is an ant on the food at a picnic, annoying and will be dealt with by the super powers if something comes from Un's "tests"....

Wow. Really? We have a "history of nuking populate areas"? Give me a break. Two atomic bombs in 1945 is hardly a history, considering how many battles we've fought since then. And both Hiroshima and Nagasaki were military targets, that had civilians living there. .
edit on 4/9/2013 by Zaphod58 because: (no reason given)

Name me another country that has done the same?? You cant, USA are the only people EVER to use atomic bombs on populated cities. Once is too many times!

Military targets lol, a city?? ooooooooooooooooooook

Battles? Invasions dont you mean?

There are rumors of you guys using mini nukes in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

www.theage.com.au...
www.abc.net.au...

So London could be a military target by your logic lol That makes it ok, you take out some military buildings inside a city of 8.1m....collateral damage right haha

Every citizen of Empirial Japan was fighting against allied forces, men women and children were willing to take up arms and attack. It was estimated that over 1 million allied soldiers would have died in a traditional land envasion of Japan in 1945. Therefore the Allied forces under US leadership decided to strike the two military targetted cities killing 350,000 Japanesse in order to save 1 million Allied soldiers. There were less human deaths as a result of this decision then the alternative one needed to end a war that the Axis started.

350,000 Axis deaths
vs.
1,000,000 Allied deaths

Which side are you on?

God Bless,

Well, what would you expect? The Japanese people were attacked in their homes on their own land and fought like devils to protect themselves and their families. Wouldn't you think the same would be true if America was invaded?

The thing that blows me away is how so many of us seem to think invaded people should throw flowers in the path of men with guns bent on murder and mayhem. WE wouldn't.

The US was the only nuclear power after world war 2, they could have nuked anyone who opposed them if they wanted and dominated the world, but didn't. Would Germany, Japan, Russia have held back if in the same position? I doubt it

It is good that the Persian general had made such an announcement. But can he back it up with words, through its official source - the supreme apostate Dictator Khameni who vowed nukes such as those posessed by Fatboy Kim is haram and against Islam?

Dare that dog Khameni now oficially DECLARE WAR on S.Korea and USA as NK had done? Or is this yet again, the apostate Khameni talking with fork tongue as usual?

If that liar Khameni do have the balls to declare war, then things can be easily done. But he has no balls, no mean his words. It's all hot air. That general who made that announcement of siding with NK should be charged with blasphemy and hanged, under Iranian law, and yet would he be hanged?

Doubt so, because the persian leadershp are a bunch of hypocrites and liars, and may this prove yet again to their deluded muslim iranian citizens on whom had been ruling over them.

They didn't have to nuke anybody else, they did a money bomb to dominate the world economy.
forextrading.about.com...

But there are still some apostates. Like Iran and NK.

Imagine, the U.S. forces in the Persian Gulf getting blasted by Iran, while NK start dropping payloads all over Asia, or North America.
Easy sed then done. Asia has other countries that are far more powerful than NK. Besides China wouldn't want the fallout in their backyard who is their master.

I always thought that NK and Iran would be one in the same problem for USA.. I just hope our leaders can avoid this trap and have known against it. "The first step in evading a trap, is knowing it exist" and the whole dune shabang

Still reading through the rest, but yes, my feeling is that you are right and the two scenarios - Israel-Iran and Korea are related. ('Course it is realistic that the blueprint for the bomb itself was given out to NK by Pakistani scientist Khan).
So this could be a dress rehearsal for a coming larger war.

As my wife is scheduled to fly to S. Korea for a Buddhist retreat this weekend, I am not saying this lightly.
Evidence is still coming in.
But since I have Korean friends and have read up on the subject, I would prefer it if other posters would refrain from stating the obvious from the media like Kim Jr. is unpredictable etc.

Slightly contradictory...but there is a lesson there.

Maybe not so wise an idea to antagonize the only nation that has actually USED nukes on another country? Something tells me we'll see how this plays out by week's end, one way or the other. I can say with confidence though, we aren't likely to use a nuke here...not when conventional equipment will get the job done with less political fallout.

I didn't realize there is still so much ignorance on this subject.
Why don't you read up on things like MAD (mutually assured destruction) as well as the story of Soviet atomic power...
