Ahh defection is such an interesting thing. I remember when I went to the USSR in 1987, I actually asked a young Russian girl in her early 20's what she thought about Mikhail Baryshnikov's defection to the US. We made such a huge deal about it, if you're old enough to remember. She didn't even know that anyone had defected from the USSR and didn't believe me because she didn't think it was possible. I always thought that information dichotomy was really interesting. Those generals probably do know they could defect and it points towards their probably enjoying an immense amount of power in North Korea because they aren't defecting. Probably wouldn't do it unless that power shifted away from them. To me, that rather points yet again to Kim Jong Un being more of a figurehead along with these obviously silly photo ops.
