Wow, in last night's episode alone, some rather minor deviations from the books, but there were a LOT of such deviations, so even readers could be in for some surprises.

That little scene with Littlefinger and Varys in the throneroom was pretty wicked, as they were never overt rivals in the books, but each knew where the other stood, vs. voicing it to each other like that.

And Cersei admitting to Tyrion that his tricks saved the city, etc.

Lots of little deviations, but welcome ones.

The web buzz seems to indicate that many folks thought last nights episode was horrible. I personally thought it was great. Slow on action, but rife with character development and plot development.

I even started to get a soft spot for John Snow and, up until now, he's been my least favorite main character.

I guess it was a better episode for those of us who've at least read through this season's books. The episode gave us a lot of what we were wanting to see in the books, but didn't deliver in the normal areas: action, combat, sex, etc.

Though just conversations, I personally enjoyed every one of them. The Queen of Thorns & Tywin, Cersei & Tyrion, Jon & Ygrette, Jaime & Roose, and Petyr & Varys, every one of them had things that weren't in the books, but things we would have loved to hear them say.

Just wait though. The next episodes of this season are going to have a LOT.

Next week, we'll see Dani take over another city, and of course the wedding between Tyrion & Sansa

If my guess is right, the first episode in June is going to be the best episode of the entire series, and that event has it's foundation in last night's episode (the arranged wedding where Rob has to make an apology for not marrying the Frey daughter).

Your guess is on the money.

Another deviation was Melisandre and Gendry. It would appear they switched him for Edric.

I liked the last episode too..I wish they would put more of jon snow and his lady friend..I like those two. I also LOVED the episode with DT toasting that slave driver..I knew she had something up her sleeve. I am rooting for DT and dragons..I hope they wipe the place clean..
I will be disappointed if she isn't the one that does the job. I also like the young stark girl Arias (?) and would like to see the mystery man again. I forgot the name of mystery man but he is the one that was that helped her escape.

I am warming up to Kingslayer for some reason..I used to hate him..but I am starting to like him for some reason...Joffrey has got to go..SPOILER**I know who does him in..but when is that going to happen? I really have to find some time to read the books!

As for that couple.....
(all I am going to say on that)....

I forgot the name of mystery man but he is the one that was that helped her escape.

Well, then he truly did his job well! Seriously, Jakken Hagar (sp?) Though the faceless men do not have the same name, the name is done away with along with the face and identity. You're likely safe in rooting on this particular Stark.

I am warming up to Kingslayer for some reason..I used to hate him..but I am starting to like him for some reason

Losing his hand has forced him to re-evaluate his priorities. He has had to live with the "Kingslayer" name for a long time, even though the king was mad, and was planning on burning the entire city and its inhabitants. His only real horrible deed remains pushing Bran off the ledge. He wants to be a better man.

...Joffrey has got to go..SPOILER**I know who does him in..but when is that going to happen? I really have to find some time to read the books!

Will likely be the cliffhanger for this season...given the episode names and timing. Of course, the last episode showed they can deviate from the books, so nothing really is KNOWN....

Do you really want to know what happens with them? If so, I'll U2U you. So far though, the whole climbing the wall is going a little differently than it did in the books, so could always diverge here. (though I really doubt it).

They stick to the books for the Battle of Castle Black (mostly).

They almost have to, as a set up for what follows.

Agreed. The only part left open is who does the deed on you know who.

Speaking of spoilers I just got off the phone with the cuz and she let slip (accidently?) about whether or not the Purple Wedding was this season or next and how this season ends.

Since they have an episode after the Red Wedding, it would seem appropriate for the Purple Wedding to be the season finale....as well as the Wyldling forces finally reaching the Wall (mammoths, giants, and all).

You would think, but will they?

I could be prompted to tell what I deduced from the conversation....

*SPOILER*

She mentioned that they are casting for Oberyn Martell (and the other Martells) for next season and he is obviosuly a big factor in the trial and subsequent combat. He was also present at the Purple Wedding and his absence would be conspicous. So my inference leads me to think based on that conversation that the Purple Wedding, and a well earned cup of poison wine, is early next season.

Sounds like a pretty good deduction...based on that.

I'm pretty sure next week will be all about Dani and her slave city, Sansa and Tyrion's wedding, and Brienne's bear pit.

Then just one more episode, with the following one being the Red Wedding (Rains of Castamere)
