The Los Angeles Times ran a Thursday editorial by Middlebury College Professor Bill McKibben arguing that allowing millions of illegal immigrants into America will reduce global warming.
McKibben says that while the average American has a larger carbon footprint than a person living in the developing world, bringing more immigrants to America would likely reduce their tendency to have higher birthrates, thereby creating less carbon-producing people.

It's true that the typical person from a developing nation would produce more carbon once she adopted an American lifestyle, but she also probably would have fewer children.
The future beckons them, and so changes of the kind we'll need to deal with climate change are easier to conceive.
allowing millions to step out of the shadows and on to a broad path toward citizenship. It will help, not hurt, our environmental efforts, and potentially in deep and powerful ways.

If latino illegals become legal, it stands to reason there would be stronger voter support for addressing climate change. It might be a strange point to make but it seems valid to me. Claiming the author is stating that illegal immigration can reduce global warming, is an absurdly sensationalist take on the authors opinion.
The beauty and majesty of the Sonoran Desert is something that can take your breath away. Now you might want to hold your breath... The picture above is on an "illegal super-highway', from Mexico to the USA(Tucson) used by human smugglers. It's located in a wash, approximately 1.5 miles long, just south of Tucson, Arizona. The people who took the picture moved down the wash, expecting it to get better, but in fact, it got much worse, if that's possible. If a flood came, all of the trash would be washed into the river, and then into the sea. It is estimated over 3,000 discarded backpacks are in this wash. There are also countless water containers, food wrappers, clothing, feces, including thousands of soiled baby diapers. Fresh footprints can allways be found leading into it. The Sonoran Desert is being turned into a toxic land fill. This is more than an "immigration" issue. It's an environmental disaster. Think about it... how would you react if somebody was trashing your state, and being defended by environmental activists and liberals, and then, when you pass legislation to try to improve the situation, the same people endorse a boycott of your state.
