Can We End This 2012 Garbage Already?

I signed up to ATS last year, after lurking for years, I still mostly lurk can probably tell by my post count. This end of the world non-sense is getting really old now. I get it, it's an interesting topic (to say the least), but all it ever causes is problems and to be honest death. The way i few end of the world theory creators is as mass murderers due to the panic they cause the public down to the point where they spend all of their hard earned money on hordes of supplies, and even getting them to the point of suicide. After one person posted a thread about three days of darkness occurring on the 21st, and it not coming to fruition (shocker!), I was done with this crap, I honestly don't get why people still give these type of theories merit.

You need to step away from it.

But ,keep in mind,the 25th has yet to arrive.

Then ,after that there will be another date.

Very much agreed on that. If we survive all that (highly unlikely of course), Apophis will be hitting Earth in 2029. So heck.... Of course! I think it's like the old Doritos motto "Eat all you want, we'll make more!". Well, doom porn is more like "Read all you can handle and there'll be just a few pages more to come".

With the technology we have now,it's a must.
So much crap being put out there with little credence ,it becomes numbing to the brain.
Sorting out the truth from made up factual information has become even harder.

Yeah, the thing about doom porn is you gotta "love it right or leave it alone"--there's little in between. There are certain forums I stay far away from around here (no point in naming which ones). Their true and devoted denizens seem perfectly content and in general accord with each other. But an unfamiliar avatar marks you as an outsider, and a single cynical or disagreeable comment will bring them down on you and remind you that you're not welcome in their world.

Just an observation....

Sure why not. Get rid of the forum.!

Perhaps there is something else Sir / Madam would like to get rid of. Don't look at the science forum, find it clutters up your screen, sure throw that out as well. While we are being helpful perhaps we can ban mention of all those things you disagree with so you only get those things you agree with 100%

Tell us who you vote for and we can ban mention of all the opposition parties for you. There you go!

Of course there is another solution you know.

If you don't like the 2012 forum, um, you could try not clicking on it. Kinda easy for you to do you know.

We need freedom of expression, not suppression of things you don't agree with.

I never said get rid of the forum, when I was talking about stopping the end of the world topics I meant those connected to 2012. And it's hard to ignore the 12 forum when 2-5 threads appear on the home page every month.

I agree with the op.It's time to end this pathetic 2012 doomsday/mayan calender ****! It should be a criminal misdemeanor/minor offense to in public say the end is coming because such nonsense has no place in a civillised society.
