Coronal mass ejection hits Earth on March 17, 2013

www.itwire.com

On March 17, 2013, at 1:28 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), which is time on the eastern part of the United States, the coronal mass ejection (CME) that had erupted on the Sun two days earlier passed by the NASA space probe Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE).

Since this weekend I have been tired and sleeping a whole lot more than usual. I suffer from sleep disorders and take medication to sleep but, not since Sunday this past weekend 2013-03-17.

As it turns out the largest Coronal Mass Ejection in 150 years (measured by the traces left over in space as well as ice shelf deposits in Greenland that have radiation measurements) visited the planet.

I bring this up because I have been feeling tired for three days now and it is the same tired you get after a CAT scan or MRI. I was at the Dr's office today and this little kid came in whom instead of being overjoyed with having the day off from school due to the eastern storm which seems to have come as a result of the Weekends CME arrival. I heard the nurse talking to this 6 or so year old kid asking what he did all day. The Kid told the nurse that he had been sleeping for the last couple of days. Then Mother piped in and said that it was the strangest thing because all the kids that had the day off to play in the new 3 feet of snow, which fell on Montreal, were all too tired to build tunnels in it and so on. I then put it together and realized that people who are sensitive to energy shifts, as I am, are tired and worn out.

So if you are having these symptoms just now you have just been exposed to about one years worth of space proton blast, possibly caused by an increase in cosmic rays as apposed to radiation rays from the solar system. NASA doesn't know why yet but, there is a decrease of radiation on the space station and on earth during solar flare activity, though these flares are filled with radiation protons. This decrease could usher in more toxic “Comic Rays” which make people very tired.

Anyhow I thought my trip to the Dr's was a pretty good reminder of just how infinitely marvelous that the universe we live in is and how small we are both in size and knowledge of things we haven't even discovered yet. All this just watching a child in an Dr's office.

I have been more tired than usual also the last few days, but I would not put it down to the coronal mass ejection, because all the other thousands of times I have been more tired than usual did not coincide with a coronal mass ejection.

So how or why does a CME make the human species so tired??

Don't know long before sun lets out powerful one which may cause problems.

Where are you getting the largest CME in 150 years from?

Hi op

March th 17 was two days ago
Maybe shouldn't be in the Breaking news forum, also existing thread somewhere.

Perhaps someone with more technical knowledge can help me out? I saw this pop and it barely crosses the M line of the flux scale. So it just started to cross into the area Earth would even notice to make a record of......and it's described after the fact as the largest in 150 years? That's 1863. If they're talking about 1859, they're absolutely insane. The Carrington Event produced beautiful auroras that were seen over Venezuela for a good period of time ...for how profound the impact was. I've seen that estimated between X-20 and X-48 for relative strength.

How would an M-1ish compare? OP, I'm not challenging as much as trying to understand. The origins and the end result just don't compute?

Actually as it is stated in one of the articles by NASA, they have witnessed this on the space station. it being within the protective field of the earth has the same kind of features as earth. The puzzling thing is due to what, is unknown. is it the CME or is it the lack of radiation which let's other more toxic waves in during a CME event.

I believe the story on this is the second NASA link or the third

I agree though the article is current the event did happen ove r the weekend. However my experiences of being tired in the same way I get tired after a MRI or CAT scan is also from the weekend and ongoing but, thank you I wondered the same thing.

I just looked again and the article has gone or I can't find it in my history but, I did read it. when I find it I will post it.

Agreed but, I read the weekends CME as being an G-2 event with G 5 being the highest. I believe they are making the point that we haven't had an direct earthbound flare of this potential since 1859. That is how I understood the article. I live in Montreal and we were outside looking for Aurora Borealis and we saw nothing but, up north there was plenty of activity. i know this sounds like nothing but with the depletion of the magnetosphere it is the strongest Aurora Borealis in years.

Great question thanks. I know the article is a little vague. I chose it that way because I wanted to relate how my personal experiences coordinated with the article which another person who posted said he/she wouldn't do. interesting?

CME or not, I have been 'more tired than usual' the past several days. Literally sleeping 10-13 hours and taking more coffee than usual to get up in the morning. No, I don't feel sick.. just 'sluggish'.

I even considered food as the cause, but diet hasn't changed. I haven't worked any more than usual, I'm young and spry. I couldn't figure out a reason for it, perhaps this is it? Energy sensitivity. Hmm, something to ponder for sure.

Seriously, couldn't the recent 'tiredness' mentioned here with such prevalence, have more to do with 'Daylight Savings Time'?

As I have mentioned before, I am well aware of feelings from radiation. I have health conditions that require X-ray and every-time I get a MRI or CAT scan I have to lay there on the table or a different bad because I can barely move from fatigue. I am just really sensitive to it. Probably because I have had so many, but the point is this particular tired feeling is irregular from regular tired. It is a drained and run down feeling causing one to be immobilized at times. All this has been experienced over the last week starting the day of the CME. I thought that it was funny to see a small 6 year old child who slept on a day off from school because of all the snow. He was unable to play in it as he was tired and slept and then the mother shared that this reality was true for all of the kids friends too; her comment was, "was there some sort of bizarre full moon lately?"

Thus, My insistence that there is something going on with radiation.

Thank you for asking though I know it is unusual for anyone to have that kind of recognizable feeling about a casual x-ray but, I do and continue to as a result of medical trouble. I am also very sensitive to "s" waves before ground shakes and stuff. This however only has about 1/2 hour warning signs and is opposite from tired but, rather aggravating and mood swinging.

Again great questions here.

Is it coincidence that DLT corresponds with the CME? Or is it a coincidence that the CME happened just at the time of year for DLT?

I don't even think about DLT anymore because I use my cell phone for a clock. My watches are packed away safely for when I need them
The time-change is negligible to me as it is, and before anyone can say it.. I'm 'that guy' that doesnt have his stove/oven/range timer clock set, or his microwave, or coffeemaker. The stupid power flickers too often and it gets annoying.. on that note.. my car clock is probably way off and I never realized..

Back on topic- No, this isn't an ordinary sort of tired. It's exhaustion. I've had people at work ask me if I'm feeling okay, not because I was too loud or too quiet, but because my mojo has been misplaced for a few days now.

What the 'real' cause is could be entirely mundane or, according to the OP & Sources, it may be related to radiation. It's just odd, lots of coincidences. .

OK, here is my Solar Kill Shot scenario (I think I posted this in the wrong thread before, this one is more suited):

I suppose that the CME kill shot, is neither an explosion nor a fire; rather simply the expansion of the beautiful aurora borealis into an atmospherically asphyxiating phenomenon descending from a solar energized sky. As with green meteors, which are the same color as the aurora borealis, but caused by two completely different impeti, it is the high energy which excites the nitrogen which makes up the supermajority of our atmosphere.

The introduction of CME energy (and believe me the Sun has plenty to do that job) into the low energy state of nitrogen excites its electrons from a 2p to 3p pseudo-shell, elevating the chemical signature of nitrogen to that of the element one period higher in the periodic table, that of phosphorous. These shell states emit green colors, as does phosphorous. Hence the meteor green, and green aurora borealis. An elegant whisper of bygone wholesale planetary destruction. Beckoning us from afar as a deadly lover in our northern skies; a deceptive angel of beauty.

Once the plama-nitrogen layer gets thick enough to reach the surface of the Earth, the electron shell displacement of the nitrogen interferes with the ability of animal life to aspirate with the intermixed oxygen, and all larger life forms simply die of asphyxiation. Breathing in a plasma matrix of energized nitrogen is like trying to breathe with a plastic bag over your head. In some places the nitrogen plasma will descend like an arctic ice finger and kill entire villages, beginning with the oldest children who consume the most lung volume, followed by the adults and finally the youngest.

Since the atomic mass of the plasma nitrogen has not increased, and the atomic radius has increased as well as PV=NRT gas volume - and the resulting green plasma is highly energized, this green plasma 'floats.' So the lower you go into the Earth, the more likely you are to survive and encounter good oxygen mixed with low E state nitrogen, as the plasma will displace the oxygen and remaining nitrogen downwards.

HOWEVER, the higher concentrations of oxygen at the lower altitudes will be dangerous, and cause a number of high oxygen concentration fires above the ground surface. Only small animals and plants inside wet biomats will survive. Oxygen levels over 24% get dangerous as many things tend to combust more readily.

Those of us, whom the government has selected to live in the underground shelters will re-populate the Earth, very quickly - as long as the Helium 3 discharge has reached the end of its Chi-Squared distribution curve. The soil will be an incredibly nitrogen rich and burned bio-mat, ready to become an explosion of cladistic phylogeny.

Now, how is that for a simple, elegant, and thoroughly effective kill shot scenario? Did this happen before?

Who knows?
