I think they need to have a prophecy forum specifically for all this Revelation garbage that constantly gets spewed on here. I like my doom porn to be straight up and not speak in metaphors. People have been saying the events of revelation are happening ever since it was written.
I believe the Bible isn't the "real" story anyhow, but I do respect, study and regard it with some esteem. Having said that, I also know it has been through various editing, beginning with the Council of Nicea, onward, (that;s a very long time, especially if you believe like me a lot more time has actually passed than we readily acknowledge openly anyway), additions and subtractions.
But what you say here, even as I believe what I do, I'd like to point out to you that the "scope" of time of revelations was to cover at least 1,000 years or more, quite clearly. So........factor that into what you wrote, and I'm not sure your point of view holds much validity.
Our best historians, whether I believe they were telling the truth or not--they thought they were--would tell you that mankind's biggest shortcoming has always been his inability to guage actions, consequences, and the long view and big picture. Your comment is a perfect illustration of this.
When Rome fell and Europe went into a dark age, people were convinced Revelations was happening. When the Vikings appeared in 800A.D. as men "from the North" people were convinced Revelations was happening. 1000 years after the death of Jesus Christ people were convinced Revelations were happening, and on and on and on. Even today, I overheard a lady at the checkout line in the grocery store tell another woman that "Revelations is happening now." Everyone always thinks that their generation is the one that Revelations is taking place in. Revelations seem to be taken very seriously simply because it was put into the Christian Bible. Even by people who don't go to church.
I like the predictions forum, because sometimes I will actually hear of other prophecies from places and cultures that are written much better and make alot more sense than any of the abstract metaphors of revelations that repeatedly get regurgitated as "This is what God meant when he said this will happen." Or complicated series and patterns of numbers that are the "code" of revelations. For every decent thread about Edgar Cayce, or the Hopi prophecies or just about any other prophetic work that has ever been posted on here there are at least 10 threads on Revelations with everyone cracking the code of what John meant when he said this or that. Not to mention that the author of revelations is still unknown. St. John did not write it. The authors name is John but the writing styles of the gospel John and revelation are totally different. Also Revelations was written about 100 years after the gospel of John. So basically what I see is people obsessing and pouring over a poorly written prophecy by an unknown author. Maybe I am not seeing "The big picture." But its what I see.

it challenged man and made him evolve from savages to respecting one another, being good etc, in hopes of salvation and living a afterlife, lets face it, being a christian is all about going to heaven...
The last you wrote, really strikes a chord with me. But this above, not so much. I think we only stop killing one another in a cave because it just doesn't work so well. Know what I mean? Who wants to try to mate with the good looking cave dweller, while all the other guys are fighting to the death. Not too sexy, and not too sensible in terms of hunting for survival or mating. As far as going to heaven.....welll, yeah, I think there are a lot of people motivated towards christianity for this reason, or just for the forgiveness: the idea that this something that is bigger than them that they feel and sense like you and me, knows everything about them, alll their thoughts and things they do when they think no on sees or they lied about, and still will love and fortive them, even if they can't do this for themselves about themselves.
There's a time in one's life, I believe......it will hit you out of the clear blue, no warning, no timing that will make it seem like even fate, (though maybe a little, later when you are reflecting upon it), when you are tested. It will be a penultimate, never going back, all telling about your character kind of test involving the circumstances you find yourself in, and a choice you are given at that moment........
Understand, I believe this is totally some kind of matrix, not reality as we think of it at all, completely manipulated. But even so, I think the "makers," or TPTB, or "watchers," or whatever you call them who are our marionettes and control the environment, even they, and all their mathmatics and physics and planning and redoing to make things fit their plan, there is a SOMETHING/SOMEONE/ENTITY/ENERGY out there they don't have control over and cannot override. These small, mostly unnoticeable moments are the miracles, and they are the proof, at least for me, that what I speak of is still there, despite all the manipulations, power, and control we live under.
Great talkin' with you. Thanks.
You can only deny prophecy for so long before you get to the point that the inevitable happens. Eventually, your walls of ignorance concerning God begin to fall down and truth sets you free. Let me show you something that is hard to deny.

The ONLY thing that we have been denying for too long is that fact that our physical earth is changing. Eventually our walls of ignorance to this fact, and the slow progress towards adaption, will trap us and result in the deaths of many. We must learn and implement new technologies across the board, from renewable energies to fresh water cultivation, irrigation, and maintenance, among many others.
Forget all this prophecy crap! It's entertaining, somewhat, but instead of holding your cross and praying, why don't you wake up, get real, and get to work with the rest of us to make this world a better one for today and tomorrow?

You could say it dried up before, but perhaps take a step back and see the forest for the tree and so paints a whole new picture...
My point is, whatever the prophetic predictions of the bible, not just one but a multitude of them...are occurring simultaneously as at this period in time, that itself is written in the revelations of the end times.
Here are but a few.
- Recent tensions between NK, with SK, USA, JAPS then you have the Iran with Isreal and USA...
Mathew 24:6 - You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Matthew 24:7 - For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Luke 21:11 - And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
Mark of the Beast
Revelation 1:3 - Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand.
Matthew 24:13 - But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved
You could very well be right and I am truly hoping you are.
