I'm sticking to the OP in this thread, if you find that difficult and wish to go off on a tangent then of course, start your own topic. I may contribute...I may not

It becomes a liability issue with eating food from a dumpster due to ppl suing because they got sick/ill for eating the food the business/company dumped. That was the reason the company I worked for told me..

Totally agree how ridiculous that is, it is a similar situation here in the UK due to health n safety rules.
This guy in the OP searched for useful stuff in the trash cans and threw the rubbish in the street though, that cannot be acceptable, can it? Would you want that in your street?

Games games games....as I have said, you cannot, or choose not to see the point I am making, and thus, responding to you any further is pointless.

So, instead of being merely dismissive, how about making your point, this is the second time I've asked you?
Perhaps you have no real point to make?
*Edit* If you see a social issue regarding homeless people causing discomfort in the local community due to their quest for food to eat while discarding rubbish in the public highway then please do raise it here, otherwise leave it out and walk away, as without considered arguments to back it up it just appears trollish.

Different issue, this thread was about the cop who ticketed the guy who looked for food in a trash can and threw the rubbish he didn't want out on the street.

It's a waste of taxpayer resources. Cop writes homeless guy a ticket that he knows he can't and won't pay. Eventually a warrant is issued for the guy because he didn't pay. Now he needs to be located and picked up for the warrant, taken to jail, processed through the system, given unfair jail time because he has no money, and all the while, the judge, jailers, cops, and possibly a public defender are all being paid by tax dollars for something that could have easily been handled by asking the guy to pick up the trash and offering him a meal. He might have even gone on to be a more considerate person in the future because of such an action. However now, he's likely to be angry and bitter about the entire ordeal that ends with him in jail, and will likely go on to continue trashing every area he goes to.

Great solution. Harass the homeless with pointless legalese when they already have nothing because someone was too uncomfortable to deal with it like a man and had to call a cop with no IQ.

I agree, tell the guy to put the stuff from the trash can that he doesn't want, and don't leave it on the street.
Crying about his loss of rights is lame and pathetic though.
I wonder sometimes if I'm in a rationally thinking zone though, I assume not from the respones I've seen here though!

And if I state it again, it'll be the third time. That you cant see the forest from the trees does not mean the point hasnt been made. Perhaps its over your head. Perhaps you are simply being obtuse. Not really my issue.

That you would play this game of circles, tell me to walk away from the thread, and then say that I am the one being 'trollish' pretty much sums it up.

I've been homeless and complied with whatever silly rules applied at the time, why do you struggle with that understanding, and why do you seem to look for an imagined hated overlord, it's silly and difficult to defend.

So my own experiences of 6 months homeless street sleeping mean nothing?
OK, you know best.
Wish I had your experience.

I just know I wouldn't like skanky people picking stuff out of the trash cans and making my street a mess. I'm happy for you that it is something you would not be concerned about.

It certainly doesnt mean that you know all.

And still, you continue to reinforce the notion that my point has gone right over your head.

Haven't we all lost enough of our rights already? Maybe they don't matter to you, but they do to me. I read stories like this every single day. People being arrested for jaywalking. Someone being gunned down by the police for wittling a piece of wood, or delivering newspapers. We have long since crossed over into the realm of the ridiculous. Is this story REALLY about some trash on the street? If so, why aren't the police doing something about the massive illegal dumping problem that exists in every city? Look around.... there are mattresses and refrigerators and tires and mountains of garbage in alleyways, ditches, parks, culverts, etc.... it's literally everywhere. Why aren't they doing something about the insane amounts of corporate industrial pollution that has destroyed entire rivers? Why haven't they done anything about the fracking chemicals that have completely ruined the drinking water wells all over the country?

But a homeless guy looking for a half-eaten donut gets some trash on the ground... it's time to crack down. I'm surprised the SWAT team didn't show up with one of their new bulletproof armored DHS "safety" vehicles. We'll teach THAT guy. He's a problem.

Not worth your time. The bigger picture is lost here, and some are choosing to ignore it anyway, with the "this thread is about this one incident" deflection.

Heres a howdy do. And it is not surprising, nor unexpected, as it is a problem that is only getting worse day by day.

It is not that this man is homeless that is the real shame, nor is it that the got a ticket that we should be embarassed about, nor should we fault the police for following the laws, and actually enforce them. None of that is really the issue here, nor should it be even considered.

What it the real shame of it all, is that all of these people coming out in support, chances are will turn around and make a big stink if say a charity decides to try to put a place for where the homeless can stay in their neighborhood. Everyone often says it is a problem and that they should do something, yet when someone does, then the real fighting begins and the hypocrisy of the entire situation comes out. We can turn out in support to help the homeless, but heaven help us if they want to put a homeless shelter in our neighborhood, think of the children and all of the main arguments.

Perhaps if anything what people should do is come up with solutions to this problem and look at the rules, laws and zoning of the area to come up with a solution that is not only viable but also will do some good. And if the community of people are so concerned then they need to start throwing their support behind the homeless and the organizations that try to come up with solutions, including more shelters and means to feed the people, instead of making a stink about it being in their backyard.

That's cool, maybe one day I'll get close to the same level of enlightenment as you guys, regardless of my experience, glad you have this lack of knowledge, I'll leave you to it lol

Funny to watch though, love you all, your curious world is an interesting perspective.

Meanwhile the local donut shop is filled with cops stuffing their faces with fresh, hot donuts! This cop should have given that man a ride to the local donut shop and made sure he got a fresh donut and not one out of a garbage can.

The U.S. hates its poor with a fiery passion. I used to think that it was because they hated those they thought were lazy.

Now, I just think it's because there are too many people that are poor for people to be able to ignore that there is something very wrong in our society.
