When does it become Reverse Racism?

I opened this with the original intention of sharing it as a story. However, the more I looked at it, the more my blood boiled. I don't mind saying, it outright pisses me off. So I made it a rant to share.

Now, let me share what has a bee in the bunny's bonnet tonight.

Wisconsin’s VISTA Program Encourages Volunteers to Overcome White 'Privilege’

(CNSNews.com) - The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) wants its white VISTA volunteers who work with low-income, racially diverse public schools to examine the “privilege” their Caucasian race confers on them.

One “diversity” document linked to DPI’s Web site suggests that white people “wear a white wristband as a reminder about your privilege, and as a personal commitment to explain why you wear the wristband.”

What friggen privilege?! Suggesting that I have some inherent advantage by having light pigment to my skin is as wrong and ignorant as previous generations of white people suggesting blacks were less than whole somehow because their skin pigment is dark.

Other suggestions for white people include:

-- Set aside sections of the day to critically examine how privilege is working.
-- Put a note on your mirror or computer screen as a reminder to think about privilege.
-- Make a daily list of the ways privilege played out, and steps taken or not taken to address privilege.
-- Find a person of color who is willing to hold you accountable for addressing privilege.

Now this isn't about anything but making white people feel bad or guilty about being white.

I want to state for myself anyway, I've never even looked down upon or treated a minority badly due to their physical characteristics.

This concept of white people being guilty of ANYTHING or...being subject to some secret or special privilege due to racial identity alone is a load of horse manure. Real rank stuff too. Ripened type manure, ya know the kind? The kind of stuff they spread on Iowa fields and stinks up the interstate for 20 miles.

Now are there racists? Well, yes. There most certainly are. I'm rather ashamed to admit the KKK likes Missouri enough to have gotten their hateful little group an Adopt-A-Highway sign here, some time back. Free speech and all though. Just as the New Black Panthers have their free speech for their urban combat classes and speeches with no qualms about the anti-white focus. Those are adults though and they're speaking. Hence.. Free Speech. Something to protect, however objectionable we may personally find it.

This is specifically a program set for outreach to public schools. It's pushing an agenda on kids and one I find racially hateful. The whole basis is a coming from an assumption of inherent wrong or guilt and no other way to really put it.

I say Enough of all the division. It's one more in an endless way of turning people against each other and it's something being fueled in different ways, daily. Meaningful equality, if that is still the goal here, has to include an end to the deliberate divisions and highlighting of differences for the sake of it. It serves no purpose other than furthering the worst of the past ...albeit in different ways.

Anyone else agree or am I alone? Some of this have gone way past center line and is coming back from the other side with as much hate as ever.

Your use of the term "Reverse Racism" doesn't help, racism is racism regardless of which side it comes from.

More like when does it become total absurdity.
I'm not sure what the point is to teaching white people that they "have it better." It may be true that the world is in a sense biased towards whites, but there's nothing to gain from implying to them that it's their own fault.

Okay, fanatic levels of political correctness aren't helpful either and I'm not running off on tangents. I called it how I see it. It is a rant after all...and why I chose this format.

Not just just the whole guilt thing, but the most obvious. Targetted. Whites are now a targetted group. Not just for guilt, but for wealth, reparations, crime, and abuse.

Whites will soon be the minority in the US. Will whites then become the entitlement group? Will there be special white college funds, goevernment programs, groups like the ACLU to defend primarily whites?

I can promise you, no. For progressives and extreme leftists, even white ones that consider themselves above the "white" class, whites are to be demonized end eventually wiped out. Don't you know? Whites are to blame for everything wrong in the world.

Many groups wish to see whites cease to any longer exist. This isn't new, and has been being pushed for a long time. Who has the lowest birth rate? Lowest abortion rate? Why has mixed race marriage been pushed when before it was considered a bad thing? No other race has been targetted to mix interracially the way whites have, by alleged "intellectuals", while other races are encouraged to remain "pure". Races that mix with whites are often outcast or excommunicated from their own.

There is a long history, and progressives are becoming so emboldened now as to be blatant and open with their intent, because quite frankly, no one is doing a damned thing to stop them. The longer they go unconfronted, the more the tide turns, the more people are on board.

The progressives are slowly taking over society.

Reminders will only perpetuate the problem. Just like children's shows with episodes dealing with acceptance of other races. No sarcasm intended. See, people like to say that kids will play with each other with no discrimination whatsoever, which is true. Well then, what is there to teach?
It's taking away the innocence and replacing it with artificial altruistic thinking, and might be a part of why racial division is still considered to be A Thing.

To add a bit to the thread here. I grew up in Southern California and lived on the Orange/Villa Park city line until I was 18. I settled a few years after leaving California in Missouri here. In Southern California, it was about as diverse as it comes with the added income gap between Orange and Villa Park to have as well. That was Middle Class to the mid ranges of the very wealthy across sides of the line. (I was on the Orange side, for all anyone might have wondered....Middle class..lol)

I've been in the Springfield area over 15 years since. So I've seen both the very diverse and almost NO diversity. I live in an area now that is literally over 90% white. Officially.

The sort of things said in this program and suggested by the white privilege thinking would have someone think we have no crime here or that we have no very run down areas and plain trashy sections of town that are full of trashy people. That would be entirely wrong. Most of those areas here happen to be populated by white people, for lack of anyone else...and makes the point that skin color has nothing to do with class or what someone is today. What happened in the past is historic reference. Not something to relive, as some seem to insist upon doing, IMO. It's certainly nothing to introduce to kids in grade school. Politics have no place in school, IMO.

Amazing times we are living in... atleast in the US, I would pay attention to commercials, more often than not a white person is usually portrayed as the dope when a black person is present...I guess it's politically correct to goof on the white people now...what comes around goes around I guess....two wrongs don't make a right

Wrabbit, I have also noticed tbis happening, at an ever increasing rate over my 35 years. I guess this is just the logical direction for things to go, according to them.

Just so they, and anyone else who would support this kind of nonsense knows, all whites havent been shown privilege, my famy comes from ireland, my grandparents showed me letters from our history, ajd told me stories passed down, about how my ancestors were treated by those in power.

Not a single member of my family has ever owned another person, we never had the money, it is only in modern times that irish americans have been treated as white. Sweet just in time to pay for englands mistakes, how nice of them.

I wader what it is like to come from a people that were privileged, I guess maybe the next round will be our turn, if there are any of us left in a few hundred years.

While I don't agree with the tactics being used in the OP I will say that all whites are still priviledged.

Many people think that things became equal once slavery ended and that's a false belief. After the South was given back to the democrats you had the Black Codes instituted followed by the Jim Crow laws. Both were designed to keep blacks from assimilating in any fashion into American culture.

You also had the North, which had no problem freeing the slaves, but they didn't want the migration up there so you see other laws passed to prevent their travel, massive discrimination and racism. These laws were changed of course but the racism didn't stop.

Even as late as the 1970's you had federally mandated programs such as "Redlining" that prevented housing loans to blacks outside of certain red lines that were drawn on some map somewhere.

All of this had the effect of blacks being unable to assimilate into mainstream American culture which led to the rise of the Urban Ghettos and the congregation of blacks to certain areas. As such, the education was much poorer in black "neighborhoods" and employers often avoided these areas. Since racism still thrived many blacks had an extremely hard time getting jobs in white neighborhoods and hence you see the rise of crime, drug use, broken families, and violence among the blacks.

Basically the white population gave rise to the black culture we see today in America. Since blacks had much poorer education and employment skills this reflected in what they taught their children. They couldn't teach their children the skills they needed in the home environment at the same level that whites could.

Its slowly starting to get better but this effect will take a very long time. Once you finally equal the playing field it will take generations of black parents teaching their children and them teaching their children before blacks can finally be equal.

To say that you've never looked down on anyone is nice but its irrelevant to what white priviledge is. Simply by being white, you already have an advantage over blacks. Certainly not in every case but definitely at an unequal percentage.

It's still wrong and implies that racism against the majority isn't racism, which doesn't help the problem. That was my point.

Just so it is clear here, I never talk about this, as the memories are not really fond for me, but blacks arent the only ones with crap parents, who ignore them, never help them with their homework or school projects, or would rather spend all their time drinking up the rent money, while blaming and abusing their kids for all their problems, while their mother is oblivious to it all like it is not happening.

That happens to a lot of folks, I know, I am one of them.

I would like you to point out one example where I got preferentiall treatment for being white.

Was it when I didnt get a united white college fund grant for school?
Or was it when I didnt get the naawp to help lobby so I can get a job I am not qualified for?
Or was it when I didnt the job I wanted under the affirmative action legislation?

Oh I get it, it was when the military wouldnt pay for enough for me to finish my degree in computer and electrionic engineering. Oh it must have been when I had to work construction and mechanical jobs to pay the bills since I only have half an education.

Oh I get it, it was the time the bank gave me an awesome rate on my loan right, I mean 18 percent interest on a 3 year car loan must be the whites special rate right?

Oh, no you must mean the time I got a crap credit score for being good with my money and always saving up and paying cash for the things I want.

Oh wait, I know it was the time I got the privilege of being working poor, and barely making the rent, because my crap $400 a week job and the wifes part time work made us rich in the white mans world.

Oh wait I got it, it was when I was born white, that is the gift, I can fully appreciate all the wanders of the world, in a way no other race can, as I am white, so that just means I am somehow better than everyone else.

You apparently didn't understand my post. This is about an entire race, not on an individual basis. Sorry you had a rough time but the majority of whites did not have the roadblocks that the majority of blacks did.

Well considering the previous generation of blacks were still heavily discriminated against and that they were brought up in an environment of parents that probably had little to no education I'd say its going to take awhile.

If you have parents that don't read or read well, were not brought up with books or taught to succeed because they were constantly discriminated against, they aren't going to pass that along to their children. What they are going to pass along is what they know, hatred, fear, violence, hopelessness.

You get the idea. I'd say this current generation of blacks will instill more values in their children but it will still take generations for everyone to truly be equal.

I'm simply saying how this works, I'm not saying whites should have guilt. This problem has grown for centuries and it won't be fixed in a generation or two.
