I'm not sure what led me to an interest in the UFO phenomena. When I was a kid living at my grandmother's house on my way home from my aunt n uncle's house, taking the shortcut back one winter evening which shouldn't have taken more than ten minutes with another relative who is about a year older than I. When we got inside, my aunt asked us why we took so long, because she left the same time as us with an atv by the roadway. we had about 30 minutes of missing time. I remember that on the way the moonlight was nice we didn't talk much but oth noticed a flash of light, I said I saw a flash of light while walking and she said, "Me too." and then seemed to elaborate a little bit more on something I wish I had listened.
Also my younger sister had seen a flying saucer. She was at Tuluksak here in Alaska with her boyfriend and his friends and they were all drunk, the driver of the boat noticed the saucer and told the others and my sister thought that they were playing a joke on her but the driver said that it's not too uncommon for them to see UFOs.
I've seen one myself, it lit up from left to right with different colors and then the whole thing changed to a pretty blue color. It was there for about three seconds then it disappeared altogether.

I honestly had little care for UFO's & aliens till a few years back, my interest is heavy in the paranormal.

That was until someone close to me started getting all flustered about the things in the sky he was seeing on a regular basis (NSW/MELB border/coastal area) and asked me to look into it for him. I reluctantly accepted the request, found some utube dot's.. nice CGI.. and the like, it also landed me here (lol).

Things went as expected, and one night his work had him up here so he came to chat in person, as.. we know.. it's hard to get a decent *conversation* about these things from strangers or even close friends and family. That morning.. stuff got real.

We'd been at it for a few hours, spinning theory's and conjecture till early morning when he suddenly went.. wonky
I thought, i was loosing him, brain tumor? you see these things when brains slip. HE went *within* himself and spazamed out.. I was thinking i'd broken the poor guy.. i tend to ramble.. but no this got real, lasted what felt like an hour but was only 1 min by my clock, he came back after what looked like fainting and was exhausted, totally disorientated then it happened again after moment of strange silence, this time it was shorter but more severe and when he came out of that he was well aware "something" just happened, and was totally himself again but now freaked for his life... as you would be.. we attributed nothing to aliens or UFO's at this time and were making plans that if he slipped again i'd rush him to a ER. He has no prior condition, this had happened before but under circumstances he only described as strange during his youth, i pushed for info but he was still messed and just gave me *strange* and as far as im aware he got a clean bill of health and this hasn't happened again.. we don't talk much now, which is worrying as we were really close till this, he went North and really started anew.. another mutual friend commented just the other day he's a different guy now and hasn't spoken to him since about this time last year.

The penny dropped that afternoon at a neighbor's house, I live in a semi-rural environment.. folks out here call a spade a spade.. and a mothership type UFO... a mothership type UFO (with some choice words thrown in). That morning they were still up early (weekend...) when a rather large light spinning thing that wasn't quite solid shocked the crap out of them by taking a pit stop between their house and mine, Being rural, I had the music up, shades drawn lights low.. as per usual for me.. b'cuse i can, so we missed the main show.. but i got treated to something else.. something else entirely. Out here im about the only one with an interest in anything alien, well i was till this, if a helicopter was there.. they would have said helicopter, ive shown them countless hours of Utube (grr) but still nothing like what they saw, most common comment is "no more like a starfish" .. I must point out.. these are totally sane folks that don't have intent, to this day they swear outright to what they saw, and don't appreciate being told any different by the odd nay sayer (i've watched a few barneys over it... Aussies... hehe).

I must also add.. when my friend wigged out, i froze myself.. im no stranger to epilepsy or fits, i grew up with a seriously epileptic mate.. but i froze like a deer in headlights at what i saw, my instincts were the reverse of what i know, that if i touched him he'd die.. at the time it was utterly confusing but in hindsight i was being told clearly not to interrupt... whatever they did to the poor fella.

My epiphany is real, my purpose for seeking out *aliens* is personal, there's alot more to this than aliens and UFO's but this is about the *turning point* in our journeys.. so i present mine.

If you ever see a human in a stolen starship blasting alien *lightbringers* with their own toys... hehe.. that'll be me.. paybacks a bitch

My curiosity in the UFOs phenomenon was raised by the Ancient Aliens series a year back. From then on I found myself watching hours long videos and digging forums. Now I have stopped watching AA series because it seems they're reaching out on most of the things but I would have to thank them for making me aware of this phenomenon.

Always find that sort of thing funny, not in a bad way, just sort of cant get my head around it (its like a curiosity I just cant fathom mentally).

By that i mean people who only really find out about phenomenon like this later in their lives. When youve been around it and talked about it all your life i suppose, I guess its an 'eh?' moment when you realize alot of other people either dont care, or really do not even know the subject even exists.

I guess you could call it a shock of sorts

Not being negative or getting at you, simply the way you mentioned it my mind suddenly clicked "some people dont even know what a UFO is, even in this day and age", guess i never thought about it before... hmmm

I've "known" since my teens.

But--

When the movie "Fire In The Sky" came out, my brother & I both sat up at a terrifyingly personal point and both said something to the effect of "I knew it was a suit!!!" simultaneously. Looked at each other and began talking about memories when's and where's.

Brother and I are 7 years apart. At different times we had each slept in the same room. Each having just awful nightmares about being what is now known as "abduction". Bright over head light, experiments, shadowy forms around us, and abject terror.

I started taking things more seriously and began looking in the library (think rudimentary search engine, with card catalogs instead of a keyboard). I found the same things and lame photos over and over.

I saw my first UFO about '91. Was taking a driving break in the middle of nowhere NewMexico, broad daylight. And from horizon to horizon, I followed the path of an odd plane, I never heard a noise, never saw wings, it looked like an egg, traveling a bit slow. I was hours from any help. Was not far from the Roswell crash site, and honestly, somewhere between awe and terror.

I believe. I'm not all entirely certain Who is there. But we are not alone as far as I'm concerned.

There was no "epiphany", but my interest started in the early '70s and was most likely sparked by my favorite TV show, U.F.O., combined with the occasional news report. I lived in the Southwest, so all the reports and stories from such places as Holloman AFB, Roswell, White Sands, and Aurora TX were talked about. My parents bought me a book for Christmas, "Beyond Earth: Man's Contact with UFOs", and it about freaked me out.

Because, its obvious things are going on we know nothing about, so I'm trying to filter the **** # and get the truth.

UFO's are one of many paths leading to the same, final, destination

A friend of mine started getting into UFOs in the early 2000s. We liked to discuss conspiracy theories together, UFOs had always been on the back burner for me. Me and that same friend used to watch Project U.F.O. when we were kids in the late 1970s. He then went on to researching Project Blue Book pretty rigorously. James Fox 'Out of the Blue' was a big influence for me.

I was about 5 or 6 years old stuck at a black project engineers house looking for childrens books at my reading level. Since Dr Suess books like "green eggs and ham" were thin I found similarly bound black project abstracts that I did not understand including one with a picture of an SR 71 taking off from Palmdale tucked inside. I started asking the adults questions about things like anti gravity technology that made them nervous and realized there was a black project world that was not being identified to the public in a direct manner. So I guess I would have to say that speaking in the riddles of UFOlogy was a sane response to an insane world.

So what was your personal epiphany?

You described your experience but failed to point out the epiphany you had.

Could you maybe give yours before asking for others?

Many posts just describing what got them interested but ones that say they had one don't describe it.

What was the profound realization that you had in deep thought?

Witnessing a UFO and becoming interested in the subject is no real epiphany, just an experience which leads you seeking answers.

Sorry if I thought it was obvious....seemed obvious to all but you. But, I will mention it again if it was not clear.

It was this incident that got me thinking more about that strange light, combined with the nose-bleeds, and odd thing in my neck. My interest was sparked more when I learned of the incident at Roswell in 1947. It was then I began my personal research into the topic, hoping to find SOME positive evidence of what this UFO phenomena was all about. That was 40 years ago now, and as a scientist, I still have not seen ANY verifiable evidence to explain if anything is going on at all.

This was my epiphany....that there was something going on, and I might be part of it all. What it was I didn't know, and still do not. Yet I continue the search.

ETA: Here's a definition of epiphany, mine falls under #3 BTW.

e·piph·a·ny [ih-pif-uh-nee]
noun, plural e·piph·a·nies.
1. ( initial capital letter ) a Christian festival, observed on January 6, commemorating the manifestation of Christ to the gentiles in the persons of the Magi; Twelfth-day.
2. an appearance or manifestation, especially of a deity.
3. a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience.
4. a literary work or section of a work presenting, usually symbolically, such a moment of revelation and insight.

I agree with you. Even though I had watched UFO videos that occasionally made it to yahoo front news, I was never really into it. I used to just watch the videos and go about my daily life. Never really thought about them visiting in the past or why they're visiting now. That's why I would have to thank that series because it got me hooked into this whole thing. Even today I think I'm the only one today in my friend circle whose into these things. I can never have a conversation with them about these things and whenever I bring this topic up ever, they all sort of look at me like I'm the odd one out. I guess they either don't care or their attitude is like "So what?". They don't have these curiosity inside them like what are these ufos, where they come from, why are they here?. Okay I am gonna stop blabbering now.

That's not really an epiphany,

a few experiences made you question things that you yourself say are still searching answers/evidence for.

How is that any type of realization or as what your definition says "insight into reality"

Not trying to argue but when one has an insight into reality why would they still not know and still be searching if they have had this insight.

Is it the ego at play wanting to find evidence so you can be the first to put this phenomena to rest and all can agree it/they exist.

I just see having an epiphany as a much more powerful experience than just having experiences and searching for evidence and answers of those experiences.

My epiphanies have left me without question and pure understanding of my experiences, they are/were and will be indescribable using a phonetic language, If or when we can telepathically communicate and allow us to show others what our minds show us will be when others can understand another s epiphany.

this is just how I see it, all will see as they choose

Thanks for sharing, wish you the best with your search

I was researching philosophy, metaphysics and the esoteric around the year 2000, when I stumbled on Laura Knight's Cassiopaean Experiment. The original material is still an excellent read, although Laura doesn't have the best reputation in the community.

A few months later I was singled out on a Yahoo group by the actual channeler of "The Wave" material, and we have been friends online ever since. He has been somewhat like a personal guru for me.

A sighting in full daylight, rather close, of a metalic disk in the sky, then numerous abduction type experiences.
Then I started researching.......

I'm happy your experiences were so clear cut and definitive. Prior to this set of event, I thought there wasn't anything happening.

EPIPHANY !! SOMETHING IS HAPPENING TO ME THAT IS BEYOND MY CONTROL....Do I know what, no. do I want to know more, yes. Possibly a new world, possibly a new reality? I don't @#$@#$ know. The quest for knowledge begins with "I don't know".

I'm sorry if that doesn't meet your all-knowing idea of an epiphany. We can't all be as in-tune and sure of our own self worth as you I guess. At least that is how it is coming across here. Do you have anything to offer here for the rest of us, or are you just here to poke and probe? If so, then I do feel sorry for you that you already know everything that is going on around you....there's nothing left to explore or learn from that position.

I don't know what this is, I cannot label it myself, how can you?

a few years ago I saw a bright red light moving by window and have found no explination for so that strengthend by beliefs in ufos
