Well, thank you for bringing this to the membership Wildmanimal. My first reaction to the data you provide, is that the projected numbers in the article are if anything, smaller than I imagined. I am of course, not suggesting for a moment that they are a small number, or that there should not be many fewer than the article would suggest. Ultimately, a world without nuclear weaponry is one I would love to inhabit.

However I am suprised that there are less than I thought. That being said, it is likely that the numbers in the article are only a reflection of a certain percentage of the total real number of nuclear weapons in existence. The other issue with putting an accurate number on these things, is that I very much doubt that every government in the world has any idea how many nuclear weapons it has at the moment. They loose data like a gunshot victim looses blood, so it would not suprise me to find out that there are a few knocking about that have been completely forgotten by central government.

Also interesting, was the oppertunity to look at the graph provided, which compares the estimated stockpiles of the nuclear nations. The US and Russia are obviously the most tooled up, with regard to nuclear capability, but to see the graph really brings home just how huge thier dominance is on that front.

As I said, great to see this posted up!

I don't think these numbers are truly accurate due to the high security/secrecy of the weapons to begin with. Prob a lot more or a lot less but I would say more. What the heck, why not have the ability to destroy the earth 3 times over just to make sure we are good and dead!

yeah and who in the hell knows what type of stock pike north korea have?, although granted they are not going to have the most sophisticated technology, china and russia will i think have secret stashes as well.

You Know, as you replied , it is great to see such reductions.
However, (and this is the reality), there are enough weapons in those charts
that if only a FRACTION were Deployed and Detonated, Life as WE know it would
cease to exist.

Then one must consider The Reactors.
Worldwide, There is a Veritable Plethora of Spent Fuel Rods stored in really #ty (unacceptable)
conditions.

You See , If there was an "Event", the release of this Million Dollar Half Life Tiffany Sparkle
would result in the Nastiest Case Scenario you could ever dance with.
Maybe you would get lucky and Sleep with the Sparkle for One Night.

It would be an Eternal Memory.

an extinction level event.

The North Korean "Stockpile" is Conducive to China.
The North Koreans are dug in so well, that it would be like Vietnam.
That is of course if it were initially a "Land War".
If of course there was a deployed capability by The North Koreans,
it would give rise to a complete counter Vaporization.

In other words. this could be the event we are waiting for to restore
the economy.

Every Threat by North Korea is playing right into our hands.
We are actually just waiting for them to give us a reason.

In fact, I am really having a difficult time holding The Dogs on the deck.

Unfortunately in either case scenario, South Korea would be rendered,,,Uninhabitable.
