So let me get this straight, if you disagree with YOUR opinions then you are being paid to troll OR you have serious personality issues.

I am just curious. Where in the OP did he say this? I don't think anyone said that if you disagree someone else's opinion you must be a troll.

Great post and worth sharing here. Many even to this day doubt the very existence of disinformants, yet 'if' they do exist - this is the exact place you would find them.

My own two cents: I believe the most effective troll is one that eventually trains those who are not trolls to think, behave and say things that trolls would say - or otherwise produce in those they interact with an inability to converse on a subject soundly enough to reach a fair conclusion.

I think the goal of a discussion is to reach a conclusion of some kind and that often means one or more sides will have to see things from a perspective not of their own. The ability to begin to see something outside of your perspective or even to conceed that you were wrong is indeed rare enough on the internet, yet at a place like ATS where alternative views and opposing sides meet it is very important.

Human beings learn from one another. How we interact, we unconciously mirror each other and develope our own unique styles of interaction based on how others have interacted with us. Therefor, I believe the most effective troll/disinformant is one that uses this psychological tool to their advantage and bombards members with prolonged forms of illogical, highly emotional discussion which never reaches a conclusion and also that the troll/disinformant themselves never EVER conceeds defeat or shows their own learning from another person. If any human spends a prolonged time among other people who constantly have that state of mind they will develope it in themselves also. Then, behold when they are one day confronted by a 'truth' which differs from an illusion they hold to be true, they will not have the proper dialogue skills neccessary to question and reach a conclusion on the subject - nor will they ever think of the possibility that they could be wrong.

Anyhow, sorry to ramble. I enjoyed this thread, peace

One thing to add, if someone doesn't agree with your stance on an issue, it does not make them a troll. Too many people on here throw the "troll card" as soon as someone disagrees with them.

TBH, I think the troll card is as bad as the race card.

Trolling Technique #6: False Moderation. Wow, I guess the OP wasn't yanking our chains after all.

Where do I sign up and does my time on the site qualify as a resume? I really wouldn't mind the extra $ on the side.
(yes I've said this exact same thing before, I'm not a pro you know...

a troll is someone who lives on message boards, has opinions on everything, knows it all, and personalizes, threads. Also the most important thing to a troll is having the last word, and usually a troll in real life is a loser...

I have learned after 15 years on the internet, now dealing with the children of trolls in addition to the old trolls, that they have not figured out that the internet is not real life, they will always try to be more then a troll and never prevail...

I tend to just mess with trolls these days, its funny to watch them try so hard, only to look so damn stupid...

Then of course if your really looking for a way to deal with them, just ignore them, real life does, except when it time for them to pay bills or when there mommy and daddy call them...

Actually think about what it must take to be a paid shill? If you were a rational intelligent human being wouldn't it eat at your soul?

What does it take to be an unpaid shill, and why would that not eat away someone's soul?

Being curious...

Would I be concidered a troll, or a paid troll since many times I post in disagreement?

depends on how important you make your disagreement sound..

if you derail the thread and make it a personal saga to be right, and share your ignorance in morality and display your idiotic EGO, then ya, you might be a troll..

disagreeing is one thing, that is usually how you identify a troll actually...

My opinion of a message board is general communication It is not a meeting room, or a classroom, or a place really to debate idea's, simply because we are communicating in 2d, misunderstanding will occur the more complex it becomes, especially when humans are sensitive and emotional..

Just by writing those few sentences I have created misunderstanding...

Trolling Technique #7: Deflection. Make the other person seem like a troll thereby endearing yourself to others by pointing out the troll.
I love it. Going to be AFK, have to go collect the toll from my bridge.

One of the biggest things I've noticed about Chemtrail Troll's or "Dis-Informants" Is they will ALWAYS try to push their knowledge or their job knowledge on you.

"I'm a pilot for 'Merica we ain't sprayin' no damn chaff ya hear?"
"I am fluent in aviation, trust me."
"I specialize in the formation of clouds. I'm a cloud scientist. Believe me ok?"

i have said time and time again,
once you spot them

Don't Feed The Trolls

ETA: that was one of the reason why i liked the ignore button that ATS use to have. when you found trolls you could ignore their posts and reading threads or participate in them in peace.

Ok ill bite ATS.

If one is aware enough, let me say again, AWARE; it easy to spot the "trolls" or the "shills" in certain threads/forums.

There IS a difference between disagreeing with someone respectfully and visiting similar threads/forums and seeing this ONE individual ALWAYS trying to DEBUNK peoples personal experiences and such. My god, do I wish this individual wasn't a member in our community sometimes. It gets tiring. Obvious.

A certain thread/forum and I'm expected to see this individual on the first comment already trying to debunk an op. What do you know...I'm right again!
No it's not Phage.

There is a time and place for eveything, but this persons intentions are so blatantly overflowing like a hot lava all over a thread and when I see this person in any thread I just pity their existence. I'm sure many know who I'm talking about, all one needs to do is have a good look at this persons avatar and it would all make sense. Bad vibes.
