Appeals Court strikes down warrantless border searches of electronics

A federal appeals court for the first time ruled Friday that U.S. border agents do not have carte blanche authority to search the cellphones, tablets and laptops of travelers entering the country — a “watershed” decision in the court’s own terms and one at odds with the policies of the Obama administration.

I have to be cautiously optimistic here. While I think this is great news, we've seen a lot of things lately (such as indefinite detention) that appeals courts have struck down that Ubama has taken to the supreme court level to have them uphold. I would not be surprised if Bama did the same here and with a secret handshake and the wink of an eye made sure it is reversed again.

I gave you a S&F, but upon observation, it appears to be only for people "entering" the country......sigh

So much for getting my hopes up.

The judges who struck this down deserve the S&F's (even though they are meaningless haha)
