Could Nixon have been influenced by secret societies to create the watergate scandal? I think this is certainly odd...

No. Nixon was influenced by power hunger, and was well aware that he was facing an electoral defeat, similar to the current president.

Also, Nixon didn't create the scandal; he tried everything to avoid it.
