Holder: Yep, Obama could kill Americans on U.S. soil

news.yahoo.com

President Barack Obama has the legal authority to unleash deadly force—such as drone strikes—against Americans on U.S. soil without first putting them on trial, Attorney General Eric Holder wrote in a letter released Tuesday.
But Holder, writing to Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, underlined that Obama “has no intention” of targeting his fellow citizens with unmanned aerial vehicles and would do so only if facing “an extraordinary circumstance.”
Paul had asked the Obama administration on Feb. 20 whether the president "has the power to authorize lethal force, such as a dron

A.G. Holder and President Obama can bluster all they want about murdering US citizens without due process; but that doesn't change anything, only makes them mass murderers subject to prosecution, and, perhaps, the death penalty.

Well there ya go. No problem in killing people who might be a "threat". Domestic action, no problem bring in the drones. Considering those that have been characterized and labeled as "terrorists" during the last couple years it means the government or the system can wage a domestic drone war on many average Americans. Well the system and this government better stop worrying about al-Queda and start worrying about al-American.

It does not matter if a Democrat or Republican is in office -- the Constitution provides Americans with due process. When you combine Holder's earlier white paper this is truly worrisome. Holder's earlier memo outlined that the President did not actual proof of an immediate attack or plans for an attack. The President just needed to believe the individual is a terrorist. The logic on foreign soil is that it may be difficult to detain the individual.

Now Holder feels these rules can be applied to Americans on American soil. This is the Attorney General who is suppose to uphold the laws of the United States. He is definitely rewriting the laws.

For the liberals who will then compare this to police killing a criminal. Police do not hunt down and immediately kill the individual. Usually killings occur while the crime is being committed or during the subsequent chase. In order to use a drone, this is a planned murder not something that occurs in the heat of the moment. The individual is targeted and the attack is planned. Too bad if any innocent individuals get in the way. On foreign soil, all men are labeled as terrorists so they don't have to be counted as collateral damage.

Under Lincoln, the military was not allowed to conduct police actions. Posse Comitatus was a check on the INEVITABLE erosion of liberty which will occur if the military performs police actions. Drones are the stuff of dreams for every dictator in history. Big Brother would have a bad case of drone envy

“an extraordinary circumstance.”

Boy I'd like to know how they can define that?

Someone carrying an AR-15 (when they become illegal), is that a “an extraordinary circumstance”?

My first thought on this was, no suprise from this group, what will be their definition of terrorist? a constitution supporting American who owns a .22 for protection? Maybe a 2nd or 3rd party supporter? My second thought was that if the Iranians can hack one of these by frequency varaition control, can we locals find a hacker who can 180 a few of these to some choice lying traitors for a little "live by the drone........"

G,day mate. i have a lot of time/respect for the American constitution for several reasons.
1. along with the Magna Carta it is possibly the best document devised and written man.
2. both the above documents are part basis for the Australian constitution.
All three have been and are being trashed by govt.
If you blokes can't get these reprobates into court and convicted you.( no belay that) ALL of US are done for. BECUASE if you fall tomorrow WE will follow a Day Later. Further it looks like you are about rooted, stuffed knackered, buggered and up the creek without a paddle in a barbed wire bloody canoe. We talk about wanting our countries back the way they were, yet we continue to reject the main and most common foundation block that our two nations were founded on. BELIEF and FAITH in the GOD of Abraham and the belief in Gods son our savior JESUS. So all aussies and yanks if you don't like the way i have laid it out then stick it in yer pipe and smoke it
