It's obvious that you all will remain righteously indignant. I can live with that. Please don't start with the 9/11 comments and the like. That's BS. You are using a real tradgedy to justify feeling silly about being fooled. How many of you would have honestly given a damn if the re-enactment was put up in the game threads or announced painfully obvious. To me that's F-in up my Christmas. I can see why some of you are upset, sure. But c'mon, Hallowee occurs around the world in enough places that this should not have to be a messy affair. I'm going to let it go after this post. I'll leave you all with this:

My week has been a total pile of crap. We got the internet taken away from us at work under BS circumstances. Not only did it castrate my ability to do my job, but it took away the only stress relief I had from a world of cry-baby theatre goers. That relief was ATS. The club I DJ in was closed for good, there went a couple of hundred bucks a month taken from my family's mouths. It goes on from there, ATS cheered me up and got me through what is usually for me what Christmas is to alot of you. Other than this little bit of play, my Halloween SUCKED. Oh well.... back to the salt mines.

Looking back at history.. The original War of the Worlds radio broadcast in the end had the exact same reactions we are seeing here. The vast majority picked up on it instantly .. while others seemed willing or wanting to believe... those are the minority. and that group complaines the most about what was done in the name of entertainment.

It is really amazing when you think about it, and how little things have changed since 1938... even with all of the advances in technology it is still up to each individual... The recreation of the war of the worlds here at ATS could not have been made more obvious to all that what was being posted was just that.. a recreation of Orson Wells War Of The Worlds.. Some said we made it too obvious!

Have we fogotten what it is to be entertained by things like this?

Seen any good horror movies these days?

I think the anger many now feel is caused by the fact that now in retrospect they see how painfully obvious it was just a recreation of the war of the worlds, leaving them feeling insulted and ashamed.

Its ok really... It happened in 1938 as well.

Orson Wells I am sure if possible is watching this and is very entertained by it.

We didn't say "HAH! we tricked you" now did we? We didn't even try to trick, since it was easy to see it for what it was. And, I'd like to think those 20 members would approach us with the idea first. If they were regular members, they'd know to bring it up with staff and hash it out. It has happened, it is happening now in DISC, and will likely continue to happen in the future. Oh... and one side not, I count, at best, seven members here not happy with this and causing some public attention-getting drama. Well, I have well-over 50 u2u's since the announcement of members thanking me for the great fun this halloween. They sent the private messages because they didn't want to get involved with the drama of this thread. Sad.

I think most of teh memebers here think its pretty kool. And members will only be banned if they are arses and over dramatize this.

Sorry for your loss ( I truly am ), but just put your self in the shoes of some of the folks in that area, how would you see this, not knowing anything about the War of the Worlds ?

Would you see it as a HOAX, or as an attack ??

I'm also ready to be banned for my thoughts...

Truely sad because they could be changing the signal-to-noise-ratio on this thread.

Go Public!

Was this not great to watch or what?

I especially liked the disapearance of "they see ALL" on my thread.

You've been here long enough to know that doesn't happen. Fishing for drama?

No not looking for any drama, I've been here long enough to know how this board operates...

But you still haven't answered my question...

If you were in their shoes, how would you take it, as a HOAX. or as an attack ??

The administration Exposed a great weakness in ATs by this trick.

Most members are not willing to do a little research before beliveing anything. They have proved their point. The people of this board need to be a little more sceptical about things. A event like this should not happen again, due to the fact that some people don't like it. But really, we can learn a lot about outrselves as a community from this.

Could we please clearly identify the parameters for being an arse and over dramatizing this. As always just looking for a little clarity!!! Would hate to be banned for speaking my mind on ATS!!!
