Is Mars going to be hit by a billion megaton blast? Comet could hit Mars in 2014 implications for

I was surprised this isn't the top topic on here. This year could be the last chance to explore Mars as it could be struck by a huge comet. Even if it doesn't hit it is going to be bombarded by debris.

If it does hit 7 months after Earth will be hit by debris.

"Respected astronomer Phil Plait, author of Slate's Bad Astronomy blog, has calculated that even if the comet is just nine miles across - a low estimate - an impact with Mars would cause a one billion megaton explosion.
That, he says, is 25million times larger than the largest nuclear weapon ever tested on Earth."

For some it was, being right on the mark over such a long period of time for some large happening would be just to much. Couple years either side makes way more sense.

Something will happen much earlier than that. I predict 2014 to 2018... with a specific emphasis on dates on or near to even numbered days.

It wouldn't destroy the surface of Mars but it would put a large dent in it.
Probably an impressive sight and some dead machines. A shame, very nice machines.

Real Event 2014 or sooner, doom fatigue. Doom normalized, event management in place.

The 2012 date has been proven to be wrong due to miscalculation. Also rather than one sudden event, 2012 may represent the transition or last year of relative normality. The calm before the storm.

Seems a lot of people who tried to explain that it was nonsense were the ones who were being accused of being "close minded" and "disinfo agents". So us rational people were right, but now the ones who were wrong have yet another chance to be proven right because it was all disinfo. But wait! What if this comet is disinfo too? Oh no! It's so confusing!

No. It has been proven to be wrong because nothing happened.

I still believe Leonid Elenin is code for an event that is a a problem, this name is rolled out on very select occasions.
It could be that ISON is the real problem. Smoke and mirrors to distract.
