Can you show the people who supported Bush that held him accountable for anything?

Back in the day, we used to hold those who were in charge accountable. Something along the lines of, "The buck stops here."

Nowadays, the cool thing is to blame everyone else and to never take responsibility.

*Ahhh, the good ol' days

What gets me also, is that it appears Kerrys whole mission, at the cost of the American taxpayers, was to get Egypt signed on to a big loan from the IMF.........

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Saturday it is vital that Egypt revive its economy and that the country's fractious political parties reach agreement on painful economic reforms to secure an IMF loan.

The country's foreign currency reserves have dived to little more than a third of levels before the 2011 revolution and the budget deficit is soaring as a sliding Egyptian pound pushes up the cost of state subsidies for imported fuel and food.

"It is paramount, essential, urgent that the Egyptian economy get stronger, that it gets back on its feet," Kerry told Egyptian and U.S. business executives in Cairo. "It's clear to us that the IMF arrangement needs to be reached."

It appears the IMF is up to their same ole same ole in buying up countries by loaning them fiat currency....and the good ole USA is being the salesmen...

Ya know, I'm pretty sure Egypt could benefit from a sequester. Might do them a bit of good, control the useless spending and all.

So what? Most people on ATS want Capitalism. How are you going to sit there and cry about all the things that come along with it?

Capitalism can't exist without Imperialism/Colonialism and war all of those things require military presence and that is what Foreign Aid is mostly about and goes to either use of land for bases or promises of future cooperation of some sort such as use of air space.

This is a list of countries, past and present, that declared themselves to be socialist states either in their names or their constitutions, regardless of the type of economic systems they had. No other criteria are used; thus, some or all of these countries may not fit any specific definition of socialism or may never have had socialist economic systems. Their only common feature is using the label "socialist" to describe their orientation, under any interpretation.

List of socialist countries

If it helps.....

I find threads like these funny. Its not just the damn USA.
This is why I keep telling we are witnessing a world wide demolition of the economy.

Here in Belgium and other EU country's its the same, we get these absurd spending cuts.
Yet foreign aid goes up. I find that suspicious to say the least.

Thanks Sonny, this is the key part though from your source...

regardless of the type of economic systems they had.

The economic systems each of those has is Capitalism or State Capitalism (what most people confuse Communism for).

Nice try but foreign aid is a socialist concept of spreading the wealth that aint capitalism giving people money is a means of placating them to let the Us government do what it wants.

That's hilarious.
Ask your GOP buddies if they want to stop foreign aid to Israel. And then do a little research on what foreign aid buys us.

The $1.5 billion requested for Egypt in the president’s fiscal year 2011 budget puts the country fourth on the list of recipients for aid managed by the State Department and the United States Agency for International Development. Only Afghanistan ($3.9 billion), Pakistan ($3.1 billion) and Israel ($3 billion) have more aid requested for them. Most of the money for these four countries is allocated for “peace and security,” a broad category that includes combating drug traffickers and terrorists as well as preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. In Egypt specifically, $1.3 billion of the requested amount this year is for “peace and security.”

U.S. foreign aid has a variety of goals. Among them, lifting people out of poverty, promoting democracy and economic stability worldwide, and bolstering strategic alliances. According to the government’s user-friendly Web site, www.foreignassistance.gov, Uncle Sam doles out “more than $58 billion a year in foreign assistance through more than 20 agencies.” More than half of that, roughly $37 billion, is managed by the State Department and USAID.

What is really hilarious is when people bring up Isreal but since this country gives aid to over 150 countries in the world the only one who shouldn't get it is Isreal.

But the topic was Egypt.

Being the evil Republican in the thread, and other threads I have stated ending all foreign aid to everyone.

News like this should be causing riots and protest all over the nation when the morons whores in congress dare to ask the hard working Americans to give away their salaries and employment because budget cuts, but they turn around on the never ending give away to foreign countries

Does that makes you feel cozy and fuzzy inside? specially if you are one of those about to lose your job this month?

Defense budget cuts right now is about employment, working force and middle class about to get screw, everything else is just business as usual

Point, yes, but is his point solving anything? Yes by golly, I was very critical of Bush. However, I wasn't a member of ATS then so I don't have any proof. And for the record, Bush was constantly criticized. It would be nice to work on the here and now instead of criticizing someone who has been out of office for 5 years. After all, right now, today, this very second, we should not be giving our money to Egypt. Yay or nay?

See this post.

Socialism is not a government type, it is an economic system referring to spreading the wealth around. China, Vietnam, N. Korea, and other Communist countries are very socialist. The US and UK have extensive welfare programs, which are considered socialist by Conservatives (including me).

Let's be clear: so-called socialism as practised by communist countries is a very different system from the true Socialism as practised from time to time in the UK (when the great majority of the electorate wakes up) and even (when it doesn't) by Conservative Governments who have no problem with maintaining the National Health Service and the other well-established welfare schemes. The great mistake made by so many US citizens is in equating Socialism with Communism.

Agree on the ending of foreign aid.

It's all too funny to see this now considering two days ago, the US as we knew it was ending because of sequestration. There are rich and poor in all economic systems and all types of government. Giving my money to someone else against my wishes is just wrong.
