The Roman Catholic Church would be a religious example of women having very firm lines they can't go beyond. Southern Baptists can be...more direct about it.

Catholics and Baptists can leave the church without threats to their lives. 90% of Catholics don't follow the Catholic church rules on contraception ... and no one threatens their lives over it. Women aren't allowed to be priests in the Catholic church, but if a women doesn't like that, she can leave the Catholics and go be Episcopalian and not have her life threatened. Baptists don't like women wearing pants to church. If the women don't like that, they can leave the church and not have their lives threatened.

Catholic and Baptist women, and Catholic and Baptist men, are treated equally under the law in the USA. No one is 'worth more or less' in the eyes of the law. Catholic and Baptist men aren't given a free ticket to beat up the women in the family ... all in the name of their religions. Catholic and Baptist men aren't given a free ticket to STEAL the inheritence of women all under the guise of it supposedly making God happy.

There is nothing in Catholicism or the Baptist faith that even comes close to the misogyny that is found in Islam.

You said that the OP was making an Islam bashing thread.
I'm pointing out that he's Muslim ... so no it's not.

Women have a right to have a say in matters concerning them, right to education and right to own property in islam from 1400+ years unlike just from a few centuries in the west.
The west dint liberate women, it brought them out as a work force when the men were busy fighting world wars! And did that by planting the idea of 'liberation'
it was a good thing but done for selfish intentions.

FF, their society, not ours. See my post above.

Sure. I saw that. The OP asked what we think of his supposed reasoning as to why the misogynistic sharia laws are good. So .. since he asked what we think ... I told him. If someone asks what I think ... I'll tell 'em.

I'd have to side with FF (since she IS a woman) and state that any religion that dictates individual roles and responsibilities is rather outdated.

In my humble opinion.

Wanna tell me how well off women in Islamic countries are again?
Sorry, but your Sharia holds women down.

14 year old Pakistani girl shot in the head for wanting to go to school
Saudi Rulers Won't Let Women Drive
Iraninan Morals Police - Crack down on 'coffee shops'
Muslim Women not allowed to travel without a man

And the biggie - rape victims in Islam are blamed for the rape, and have a hard time proving that they are the victim in a court of law Rape Victims in Islam

Under Islamic law, rape can only be proven if the rapist confesses or if there are four male witnesses. Women who allege rape, without the benefit of the act having been witnessed by four men who subsequently develop a conscience, are actually confessing to having sex. If they or the accused happens to be married, then it is considered to be adultery.

etc etc etc ... all in the name of Islam.

to people in west. can any man marry a woman while he has not enough economical capability to handle a family in west ?
I think men should inherit more because without money they can not form a family and all girls would say a big NO to him ! it is not fair !!! no one can deny this point that in general women want men to have the least money.
nowadays many women have jobs and .... but still they want a rich man in general, a prince over a white horse !

What about the women who don't want to be married? Not everyone wants to be married. Not everyone wants a family. And those that don't want to be married shouldn't be penalized for not wanting to be stuck with a man who thinks he needs to run everything. It's not fair that inheritence should be determined by what reproductive organs a person has.

it is not fair !!!

How Islam treats women is not fair. Fair would be that all inheritence be divided equally, without consideration of reproductive organs.

Men and women can earn money TOGETHER.
A husband and a wife can BOTH earn money.
It's just that simple.

From a biblical point of view, i am sure muslim will ignore because it comes from the bible, we have Adam, whose wife was taken from his own body in a prototype of Christ whose bride is taken from his own body.

Matthew 19:1-6

1 Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these sayings, that He departed from Galilee and came to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan. 2 And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them there.

3 The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”

4 And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Let that sink in for a bit. It means they are equal partners, especially in relationship.

This is what the Temple and Jerusalem are supposed to represent, the bridegroom and the bride. Well, except the bridegroom disappeared 2000 years ago but that's another story.

How about each one earning the same and deciding how to spend the money they have without the wife or the husband telling each other what is well spent or what is badly spent.

The analogy for keeping women subjugated that i have found
very useful is this: would anyone think it right if the U.S had never
ended slavery, if to this day we still used the system, could anyone
look at us and honestly say that it was ok even if we were to claim
it was our cultural right and in the bible? NO. it would still be an
immoral thing that we are trying to justify and explain away.

Morality is not whatever some religious books dictates, doing
something immoral in the name of any god does not make
it a moral choice, it simply gives an excuse to do something
immoral.

I want to claim morality back from religion, im so sick of their
perverted ideals of morality, and i mean all the mainstream
religions out there.

That's right. They ought to stay in the kitchen or the bedroom, and not bother themselves with the matters of men, such as on the internet or in public.

To claim they're equal, what a western satanic view.

Allah made them inferior, because it compliments the strong manly nature of man.

It just is.

right? am I right??

I said they are different nothing more or less.

It is the western culture that wants them to work. They want all human being they can get to work for them.

Which one is superiority ? Working for food or working on hearts and minds of the children ?

The problem is that western culture is advertising that working is better or more valuable , while it is not. They want women to work for them and let the children grow by TV.

Fork and spoon are both used for eating. It is not fair to say one is higher.

The complete responsibility of women(mother, sisters, wife) and children is on the man. He has to provide for them out of what he earns and inherits .... So what are your opinions about this full picture?

1 - Its trying to justify a bunch of misogynistic bunk.

2 - Its ASSUMING that the man will actually take care of all those women .. and the truth is that many don't.

3 - It's ASSUMING that a man could do a better job in managing finances .. and the truth is that many can't.

4 - It's ASSUMING that a woman isn't as smart as a man when it comes to earning a living ... and the truth is that many women are as smart or smarter than the men.

5 - It's ASSUMING that a woman requires being 'taken care of' when in fact women are very capable of receiving an education and taking care of themselves ... they don't 'need a man'. (unless the men are holding the women down with neanderthal like rules from 1500 years ago ... then those poor women are stuck).

6 - Bottom line ... it's just men robbing women of their independence all in an effort to continue to keep control over women. It reeks of men being afraid of women.

1- A misogynistic bunk where a man ends up spending more and ending up less than what the woman has?

2-yes, but Sharia is a law, men have to its like how an ex husband has to pay child support.

3-It has nothing to do with being able to manage finances better, a dumb husband can earn and the wife can manage.

4-again nothing to do with one being smarter than other, a woman can earn, she just cant be forced to contribute.

5-women dont 'require' being taken care of but women do enjoy being taken care of. They are free to seek edùcation and have their own legal entity which came to west just centuries ago before that they had no inheritance rights.

6- Its not about robbing independence, its about making responsibilities clear and easy.

I must say that i disagree completely, i do not desire that all women
would work, i desire women to do as they please, have a choice and
speak their mind, i do not want a programmed robot that knows her
place and follows a "path" i want a human being, feeling, caring,
desire, i want it all, the heart, the mind, the emotion, the turmoil,
i want to earn what i have, i want to be chosen and not given,
i want life in all its wonder and terror.

Freedom is really the only way, with true freedom if a women so
desired she could choose to live that life on her own but she would
also have the choice to leave at any point as well, that is what they
do deserve, the choice, theirs and theirs alone as to whether to
be slaves or not, and that choice should always remain.

I believe in equality when it comes to religion...

I'd have to side with FF (since she IS a woman) and state that any religion that dictates individual roles and responsibilities is rather outdated.

In my humble opinion.

what about the recent trend of super moms/career woman etc. A woman is now expected not just to be a home-maker but also have career, earlier just house work was satisfying and fulfilling for a woman, now its considered as a symbol of oppression!
A 'just' home-maker now feels guilty of not making a career
and a career woman feels guilty about neglecting family life.
A woman has lost touch with her own feminity just to prove her independence and 'equality'
she tries to look like a man, dress like one to prove herself as competent as men wont take a too feminine co-worker seriously.

A woman doesnt have to prove anything to anyone, she should make choices led by her own instincts/intutions and not need to do things because everyone is doing them.

A woman now needs to earn a living because she cant trust that her useless husband will not abandon her for a fresher face.

In the west women feel more insecure financially as they cant rely on their men who have complete freedom to leave them anytime, sharia puts an end to this irresponsible freedom.

Its just a difference of perspective, some see sharia as misogynist and i see it as almost pamering women, liberating them from worry of 'daily bread' and setting them free to follow their potentials/dreams while their father/brother/husband(if none then the State) sweat it out to make sure they are provided and made to feel secure.

I can't believe someone gave you a star for that.

A misogynistic bunk where a man ends up spending more and ending up less than what the woman has?

I have no idea what you are saying. Try to rephrase it.

2-yes, but Sharia is a law, men have to its like how an ex husband has to pay child support.

Just because the Sharia law says they should take care of women, doesn't mean that they do. (*and the Sharia laws about beating women who 'disobey' men isn't 'taking care of them, it's just beating them') And men shouldn't have to take care of women .. women should be able to take care of themselves.

3-It has nothing to do with being able to manage finances better, a dumb husband can earn and the wife can manage.

A smart wife can earn more than a dumb husband.
A smart woman doesn't have to get married.
And no woman should have to get married.
Maybe Sharia is there because men are paranoid that independent women wont' want anything to do with their them. So they subjugate the women using Sharia as an excuse. That way they can be sure to have a wife or two who will take care of all their 'needs'. Now that I think about it ... I bet that's true.

4-again nothing to do with one being smarter than other, a woman can earn, she just cant be forced to contribute.

Women can't earn enough money when they can't even go out and get an education without being afraid of a bullet to the brain. Women cant' earn enough money when they can't even drive a car without being tossed in jail. Women can't earn enough money when they can't even leave the house without a male escort.

5-women dont 'require' being taken care of but women do enjoy being taken care of.

Many women enjoy getting an education and taking care of themselves .. and not be DEPENDING on a man for anything. Many men are not dependable and everyone should be able to take care of themselves.

They are free to seek edùcation and have their own legal entity which came to west just centuries ago before that they had no inheritance rights.

No women are not all allowed to seek education.
No women are not all allowed to have equal legal rights as men.
No women dont' have equal inheritance rights, they are treated as less than a man.

6- Its not about robbing independence, its about making responsibilities clear and easy

No ... it's about robbing independence. No matter how you try to spin it .. the sharia laws take away womens rights and independence. It forces women to be subjugated to men. It makes men superiors over women.

The ONLY fair laws are those that are gender blind.

Sharia is TOTALLY about independence being taken away from women.

Sharia is TOTALLY about men being paranoid that women are smarter than them, so they bully women into submission using misogynistic bunk that someone came up with 1400 years ago as an excuse.

No. A woman is expected to do what makes her happy .. be it home-maker or having a career or both.

earlier just house work was satisfying and fulfilling for a woman,

Not true. Not even close. It's what women were stuck with.
And just because women were stuck with it a hundred years ago doesn't
mean that they have to be stuck with just that now. This is 2013 ... not 1813.

A woman has lost touch with her own feminity just to prove her independence and 'equality'

Not true. Not even close. Women can be as feminine or as masculine as they want.
And it's not to 'prove' anything to anyone. Women are who they are ...

she tries to look like a man, dress like one to prove herself as competent as men

Not true. This is 2012. Fashions change. The clothing that I wear is a heck of a lot more comfortable than the clothing that my grandmother wore. And I don't dress like I do to try to prove myself 'as competent as a man'. No one thinks like that.

A woman doesnt have to prove anything to anyone, she should make choices led by her own instincts/intutions and not need to do things because everyone is doing them.

Tell that to the men who expect them to behave within the confines of misogynistic sharia law.

A woman now needs to earn a living because she cant trust that her useless husband will not abandon her for a fresher face.

... or women now earn a living because they ENJOY the independence and the income.

In the west women feel more insecure financially as they cant rely on their men who have complete freedom to leave them anytime, sharia puts an end to this irresponsible freedom.

In Sharia, women are STUCK with men who disrespect them .. stuck with men who beat them because the Imams say it's a good thing to do ... stuck with men who have multiple wives and so the wife is just one of many who can be easily replaced.

It's not 'irresponsible freedom' for a woman to be able to leave a sucky husband.
It's not 'irresponsible freedom' for a woman to be able to take care of herself so
she doesn't have to get married at all.

some see sharia as misogynist and i see it as almost pamering women, liberating them from worry of 'daily bread' and setting them free to follow their potentials/dreams while their father/brother/husband(if none then the State) sweat it out to make sure they are provided and made to feel secure.

I'm not surprised that muslim men think like that. They want to be sure to keep their women under lock and key .. otherwise, those women will discover their own lives and not want anything to do with the silly men.

You assume that all women want to have to take care of a husband instead of following their own desires to have a career and an education. A woman can make herself feel secure just fine without a man.
