For more than a week we have endured the crap out of Washington DC on how the sequestering is going to harm so many areas of the government services provided to all of us. They continue to attempt to misinform us that these massive cuts are taking place. When in reality the federal government will be spending more than ever before. Something like $3.5 trillion dollars this year compared to about $3.4 trillion last year. What they are calling a cut in spending is actually nothing but a slowing in the growth in spending. So, I have a problem in understanding how all the jobs and services are going to be affected. These employees and services were in place last year. They have the exact same amount of money available to spend plus an additional 3% instead of 5%. Please do not hold me to the exactness of my numbers. The premise is correct they have the same money plus some.

The reason for this post is I would like to list all the services or jobs that were going to be cut. Below is what I have heard and remembered. I would like for others to add to my list from what you have heard. Then in six months or so I would like to revisit this list and compare it to what actually took place. I am doing this for two reasons.
1. For my own selfish reasons.
2. To expose Washington DC for what they are....a bunch of crooks that will lie, cheat and steal to get our money.

So below is what I can recall so far.

1. 800,000 pentagon civilian workers are going to be laid off.
2. Air traffic controllers will be laid off forcing the shutdown of many runways at major airports
3. Lead paint inspectors layoffs causing the death of 3000 children
4. Health care services for immunizations, and vaccinations causing more deaths of children
5. Police, Fire and other first responders.
6. Education, and school teachers will be laid off because of millions of dollars not going to states.
7. 911 services will be discontinued in some areas.
8. VP Biden will be forced to ride a train home instead of taking a private military Lear Jet (OH so sad).

Well, that is my lists please add to it. Lastly, why did I title this Sequester and Stupid American? I cannot believe that Washington DC can believe that we are so stupid to believe the crap they are trying to pull. It is time for the idiots living like Kings and Queens to get the message that enough is enough. Both parties need to get the message that we are ready to clean house along with the news media that are acting like cheerleaders. All they need are pompoms and that would make them into what they are nothing but state controlled morons.

You forgot mea inspectors, they all will have to take 2 weeks off with no pay. So meat prices will skyrocket.

Of course they will all be sent home at the same time instead of only a few at once, like any logical organization would do.

It isn't misinformation. Both parties are telling Americans it is going to be bad either way. And, also you are looking to far into it because there is three outcomes.

First one, federal employees...contracted, full time, part time, temp...will have to take an extra day off. This will force every federal employee to only work 32 hours a week. Of course on top of that, forcing a lot of individuals to get 2nd jobs. Also, forcing more cuts to the already horribly manned military. Meaning less re-enlistments. This is best case scenario and what everyone is pushing for. The only 2% cuts that will not solve anything, but slow down the fall of this country. These cuts will only last 8 weeks I believe. Except for the military cuts.

Second scenario, all federal employees except full time and contracted are fired completely. This will cause the budget to allow some recovery. Once the contracted employees contracts run out, they will not get re-hired. Not sure how long this cut will last. Military will see some cuts. Not like the one above.

SHTF scenario, no budget is passed and no federal employee gets paid. And, this will probably cause a lot of military members to go AWOL. Depending on how long that takes. If it is long enough, we could be looking at the name "Republic of United States" plastered on all the maps or a revolution.

Lets face it, this country needs a restart...that is the only way to recovery from an already deep hole. Will it every happen? Nope. This country will fall before any actually recovery happens. Anyone who says there is a recovery going, is a drugged out democrat.

Whatever may happen or decision they come to, will not fix anything and just leave this country with a slow painful death.

I can't help but wonder just how much it costs to haul these self-important politicians around in aircraft? How many "vacations" have the first family taken? What is the cost of the congressional health care plan? What is the cost of the politician's "retirement" plan? What do political perks cost?

Given that our financial problems are a self-inflicted wound (on-going gargantuan fraud), I don't have any faith in "budgets". But, if we are to play-along with this dog-n-pont show, shouldn't we be taking a chainsaw to top-level waste and royal-level largess?

I was listening last night to NPR talk about the USDA inspectors and I cant sympathize.

Government created the problem by mandating inspectors be on site for all operating hours.

That's just ridiculous. I get that people are afraid of food and want that artificial safety of a guy in w white coat saying "not too rotten yet!" but if we're going to demand an inspector on site for all operating hours then why doesnt every kitchen in every eatery in the US have its own inspector on site for all operating hours?

I cant feel upset that government cant fund its own stupidity.

Simple fix, stop mandating inspectors on site for all operating hours. Problem solved and prices wont skyrocket. Random periodic inspections should be more than enough.

The libertarian in me says do away with them altogether but the timid and frightened children of this nation apparently arent ready for that kind of freedom yet.

I'm sure he wasn't referring to you, just the other Americans who were unable to read past the title. You know how stupid the average American is? It's a scary thought to think half of them are even more stupid than that. That is when I quit trying to explain this "sequester" nonsense. so kudos to the OP for addressing it again.

I believe that these budget cuts and job layoffs will eventually lead to major civil unrest in the United States. I think that people will ban together and march upon the White House in D.C.

I also think that crime waves in many places will increase; and there will be less law enforcement to protect and help people.

Homelessness will increase; people will be hungry and not have enough food etc.

I just don't understand why TPTB could not come to a better decision; or was it their plan all along to allow the automatic spending cuts set to happen today? Also...in 4 weeks if they don't decide on something; the federal government is set to shut-down too.

Here is an article about this: seattletimes.com...

Please stop adding to the madness! NONE of those things will happen. In fact, almost nothing at all will happen. First of all, we are talking about a measely 2.3% of the federal budget. Secondly, it is NOT a cut but a reduction in the increase. Yes, you read that correctly - the government is going to spend MORE this year than last year, just 2.3% less than they thought.

Sequestration is nothing but CASTRATION of the sprouting green shots of the american economy today.

Some say it will only affect after a few weeks after today, some say only a minority will be affected, etc, but the truth is:-

a. est 800,000 american govt employees will be out of work or have their contracts reduced to penury slave status.

In a population of est 200 million working adults, that 800k seems insignificant, but when added to the TOTAL unemployed as well as the new entrants to the labour market of high school and college kids, you will see a frightening figure. If added to loose immigration policies, a disaster is in the making.

b. Ongoing military budgets will be slashed, which will only result in cutting corners measure which will only lead to the loss of precious lives or the ineffectiveness of the military at any given moment, for none knows when the threat will come and when it comes, with no first responders, only more will die.

That's mililtary budgets, but what about social budgets? Cut on research and social expenditure, it will lose talents and opportunities. I need not go on. The threat is clear and present.

And WHO is responsible?

Blame Congress. Republicans hell bent on mollycoodling the rich with no further taxes when the rich are wallowing in wealth, more than they can ever spend in 3 lifetimes, while democrats hell bent on funding their personal pet projects of EVERY social issues, even squirrel welfare programmes.

Blame President Obama, who by his appointment of office, has the FULL AUTHORITY to do the right thing when such things happen in congress with gridlocks over self serving issues through the use of EXECUTIVE POWERS.

He fears to be seen as a dicatator or spat upon by others, have his name sullied if he used it. Even Lincoln expected himself to be villified by future generations for the civil war. But instead, because of his courage to act when necessary, today, he is the only President to sit in Washington DC, for TWO centuries, and best yet, in memorial form, never to be forgotten.

So what is the solution?

1. Self help. Each neighbour to reach out to another during these hard times, to share food and resources. Easier said than often done as most humans are selfish.

2. President Obama to mobilize his highly effective and provened grassroots team to give him support for executive actions to save the nation.

3. Honest and sincere citizens start making preparations for the comming congressional elections, to strike fear into the 2 complacent ruling parties that if they do not want to get their act together and work for the People, a 3rd party will be voted in to rule instead.

Votes are not freely offered. It is to be won. And judging by the performances of the ruling parties, it is only fair and high time a NEW party send out its grassroot teams to woo for the vote, to boot those redolent current party hacks out of office.

4. CUT WASTE, not budgets. I am sure there are some unnecessary jobs or spending and should be eliminated right now for the sake of the nation's survival. Each dept should only eradicate the truly unnecessary only and not just across the board, throwing the baby out with the bath water.

I will try to give more ideas, but currently, I am too shocked and stunned by this stupidity to allow castration of the economy happened by congress to think calmly. Futhermore, I am sure there are more brainy guys and gals out there than me whom can come up with better, pragmatic and effective concepts to keep the american economy steaming ahead, instead of this self destructive course set by congress....

Nothing much is going to happen.

800,000 people won't get the axe.

Teachers won't get fired.

EMT's won't get fired.

TSA agents won't get fired.

Government is trying to raise the panic level because they are afraid that people will realize that we can live without all this government spending.

2...we are too stupid because of our politics
3...we are too stupid because of our education
4...we are too stupid because of the way we live
3...we are too stupid for the ???... etc.....
but we are smart enough to control everything bad that happens in every country because of our influence...ok

They will try to lay off more public jobs first. Just so it will make the most impact, most inconvenience for the public. Then they can say 'We told you so" and use it to get what they want next time. All for spite, 'cause they called his bluff.

Sorry to tell you this but the job lost is very real, so real that already our local base had advised the civilian employees that next week they could be lay off, no is not propaganda, my husband was lay off last June after the first wave of spending cuts, see the cuts has been going steadily since the budget cuts were passed last June

Now the second wave of layoff is about to start.

Thank you Obama job creation.

I have been following the crap that is going in Washington for years, I know how the rats works and I know that most Americans have no clue what is going with our once for the people government and their private interest agenda pushing

This year is going to be a big disappointment for the working class and tax payer in the nation, me I am already prepared because my husband and I has been in the worst of it for 4 months.
