Whilst I have been enjoying your last few threads.... you are coming off very cocky. I don't mean that as an insult, I'm pointing out an observation so you are aware. Your replies and rebuttles are not leaving any room to allow anyone to have an opinion or input on your topics. You can disagree but the way you are coming back at people is defensive and unappealing...

Just saying because this might turn people off to what you might have to say in the future.

And as for the thread it's not absolutely certain Beyonce's demon possessed, and the fact that some members have been stating things such as it being for publicity and "you are taking it too literally" are all valid opinions. Why even create a thread if you come off offended if anyone has a different opinion from yours. If that's the case it's a one-sided conversation with yourself and you might as well just post the thread to yourself and not share it...

I just wanted to take a second to clarify, though, for anyone who may have missed it, the reason why I was asking for evidence of their claim of her words being not literal.

Indeed they don't have to be here, but I think they wanted to be here just to stir up crap and make themselves look intellectually superior because some of us believe in demons and possession. And to them that's an absolutely insane position to take. Like I pointed out earlier, someone earlier in the thread said that those of us who believe she was speaking literally suffer from slight autism. Yeah.

It explains that Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, and Raphael the Archangels were in heaven and bound the fallen angels.

Well I disagree with your assessment of me but that's your opinion and you are entitled to it. Still, I have to say that in the OP I stated that this thread was posted for those who are into this topic and to show them some more information on it.

If people wanted to weigh in and try to refute it that's on them. But I don't have to be all meek and assimilating and considerate of their position. I don't ask them to do that for mine and clearly none of them have. Maybe I have been cocky and arrogant. But so have they. And I dare to say that they probably came across that way first. So while my "attitude" may not have been the most pleasant and I'm not trying to justify it, I think blame has to be laid at their feet also for their arrogant and condescending tones throughout this discussion.

But as I said this wasn't posted for debate, though I knew based on my last one that it probably would happen. It was posted specifically for people who believe in this topic. And I made that clear.

I am not convinced one way or another.

In fact -- the only thing I am absolutely sure of re: "god and angels" is that whoever told them first told the greatest story of all time, whether you "believe in it" or not.

I did 5 years in a Christian school. I have no beef with the metaphorical concept of a god. I just don't buy into the personal god theory described by the loudest religions on earth today.

I don't believe it is possible to "sell your soul." I don't believe that the force(s) which set entire universes in motion are running around trying to "enter" and control human puppets in order to push mediocre pop music on a generation of mindless consumers.

I don't believe we should be thumbing through the entrails, interpreting prophesies. I think we should love our neighbors and be less judgmental, full stop.

There are far more important things to consider going forward, like "how are we going to feed, shelter, provide energy for / supply clean water to ten billion people by 2050?" Demon-haunted popstars are trivial pursuits unworthy of our humanity or our attention, especially on the basis of a literal reading of what is clearly metaphorical in any sense that actually matters.

Maybe it can be both, but I doubt it. As long as the biggest religions on their planet can get us to hate each other over bad pop music, they never have to include us in the important conversations.

Well if you are talking about what Beyonce' said I see no reason why it should be taken as anything other than literal. There are no context clues or anything suggesting she was speaking metaphorically. She said very literally she felt a presence enter her. No metaphor whatsoever. And nothing to suggest a metaphor.

Do you want to know what I think? Do you even care? I think there is no such thing as hell or heaven as interpreted by man. I think the other side is full of "demons" and "angels" all co-mingling around each other and latching on to whomever makes some kind of connection with them. "God" cares nothing of this and "God" will not interfere. The heaven or hell is your choice.

You see, the whole mini-documentary was very good and interesting right up to the end once the bible preaching began. I wish they left God out of it. But this is only my point of view, I can't speak for all of Christianity.

Thanks, Randy. I've run into arguments like that many times over the past few years. Where people try to posit an either/or scenario when it's not necessary, when more than two things can be done. We don't have to choose between, for instance, feeding the poor and donating to a battered woman's shelter. We don't have to choose between solving gun violence and solving poverty. We are complex, capable creatures. We can solve numerous problems by properly dividing our time and resources. It doesn't have to be "solve the energy crisis" vs. "expose the Illuminati." I know it sounds silly saying it like that, but it's true. We can focus on saving souls and defeating Satan while at the same time fighting for equality and trying to end poverty and homelessness. So on and so forth.
