If you are wanting to differentiate between "Texan" and "Texian", that is a rather petty and semantic point that seems fueled by pure ego.
If you are implying that Santa Ana was not trying to disarm Texans (regardless of what you want to refer to our forefathers as), you are somewhat
correct. He just wanted the canon. Gonzales was the first battle in the revolution, and the demand was purely symbolic ("Give me your canon and
surrender or your in big trouble"). To this, Gonzales residents made up a nice flag and raised it over the canon. Point made, and the fight was on.
