A russian army unit was transferred to a poligon near lake Chebarkul which recently became famous as one of the meteorite's crash sites. Coincidentally this happens as the MoD suddenly conveys military exercise all over Russia. Oh, and what is also completely accidental - the unit belongs to VDV - one of Russia's most powerful and combat-ready arms. The unit is supposed to stay there "until further instructions".

So, 4 a.m., 7 planes carrying 500 troops and combat vehicles rapidly leave central Russia, go to Chelyabinsk, virtually to the meteorite crash site, massive army exercise happening in the country and MoD says there is no connection to the recent events. Move along, nothing to see here.

They're showing off ... so what?
Everyone in the world does that.

The meteor was just the best PR anyone could hope for.

So, it takes them almost a week to mobilize 500 troops and 7 planes?

Impressive.....

Seriously though, if something was unusual about the meteorite, they would have had 100's of specialists on the scene within hours. Heck, they probably did

Not too sure about the reliability of the source and even if it were true, I somehow doubt it's connected to the meteorite
