The New SE crater is restless. Occasional glow from the summit vent suggest that deep-seated strombolian activity continues. At the same time when this activity was visible, a glowing spot at the southern base was present as well. This could be a small effusive vent that is activated briefly during phases the magma column rises high enough inside the conduit. Also today, the volcano produces nice steam rings. Tremor is currently low.

There's a lot of rumbling - house shaking tremors and from one LiveCam I can see a lava cone - but there's so much overcast where I am I can't get a look much less a photo. I'll keep trying -

Happy Thanksgiving to the American ATS'ers out there.

Great info! Thank you -

At the time of this update, there are increasingly strong strombolian explosions or pulsating lava fountains at the New SE crater and an ash plume has started to rise. Bad weather inhibits good observations, but occasional views can be obtained especially from the NE side. You can follow the eruption "live" at our interactive webcam viewer.

from your link

There's some great thermals going on too I see!

"Highest critical alert" sounds like a pretty serious alert, so I wish you luck and hope the wind blows away from you. You must lose sleep sometimes on nights like this.

Etna volcano (Italy): new paroxysm at New SE crater (nr 18 in 2013)
Thursday Nov 28, 2013 17:01 PM | BY: TOMPFEIFFER

A new paroxysm has started at the New SE crater. Following weak strombolian activity during the past days, this afternoon, started to rise steeply this afternoon.

I'm sorry - it's highest critical for the ash fallout - I'm in a hurry and I should take the time to explain.
Headed back out - and yeah - the ash is really bad, but it’s not hit here yet.
My apologies for not being more clear.

Be back - (back to add pic)

Found this recording of volcanic gas jet.

You can feel the power through speakers but to think you feel it from the Earth, the ground you stand on is very troubling.

So many of us have petty complaints about traffic or weather. Just considering what you and so many others around the world live everyday.

Peace be with you and strength.

Nuova eruzione dell'Etna Fontanarossa, (New eruption Etna closes airport Catania)

Il Vulcano si è risvegliato. I vertici di Fontanarossa hanno deciso di chiudere 2 spazi aerei, ma lo scalo torna operativo dopo un'ora di chiusura. Leggi la lista dei voli dirottati.

The volcano has awakened. The authorities at the airport (Fontanarossa) have decided to close the air space, but the airport will be operational again after an hour of closing.

And I still can't see a thing!
