ATS Search?

Hello all. I don't log in or participate much but I do quietly check up on ATS daily and use the search engine pretty often. I just tried to go look something up and was taken to abovetopsecret.com.samuru.com.

Is this a glitch or are all search queries handled by Samuru now?

Yeah, thought it was just me. Looks like a third party search tool has taken over.

Samuru is powered by Liquid Helium, just like Stremor. Another thing these three things have in common is our fearless leader, SkepticOverlord.

It would seem so...but from the handful of trials I just gave it...it seems to be a well functioning engine. ATS's (previous?) Search function is the brunt of many jokes and is one of the top lead ins to many many ATS threads "I searched ATS but nothing came up so Mods please delete if already posted"

This lead in, in my experience anyhow, is because the ATS Search function was persnickety (for lack of a better term).

imo it has the potential to be quite a welcomed change.

I knew SO was involved but I didn't think that the two projects would be crossing over. They are kind of... different.

I've got to say though, I was very fond of the ATS search engine and don't really want to use a third party for some of the crazy things I've looked for here. I'm just some guy but for what it's worth, I think this is a bad move.

Either way, thanks for the quick heads up everybody.

Explanation: I inputed my username and abovetopsecret as search terms and recieved zero search results. :shk:

Personal Disclosure: That is a big step down in functionality from even the buggy old search!

What is the go?

P.S. If I have to sign up or d/l then I am simply not going to use it ok because I am a member here already and there should be no issues.

I didn't dare search... then i tried and it seemed kosher but why cant it have the same ATS background or at the very least an ATS SEARCH banner somwhere... to make me feel i'm still 'on ATS'... otherwise its a cold sell out look and looks and feels very very bad...

I won't start using Suburu or whatever as my search engine... its stupid to think that...

I just tried OL and also got a ton of hits. Maybe it's a location thing?

No...but...I omitted the abovetopsecret portion and just searched your member ID OmegaLogos.

It tried to correct me though ..but I know you better than it does....I think

It was quiet ominous looking as I often log in to ats via iPhone, huge unknown site pops up :O, I backed out of there very quickly. It does have the wrong feel about it. Not against change if its for the better though. Time will tell

Explanation: Ok I went into my browsers tools and allowed it to do a compatability setting change and here are those results...





Note I have had to zoom way out and scroll down to just get these 2 screen grabs ok.

Personal Disclosure: That I now get some search results is much better than it was before.

But it appears it still has a way to go working itself out in the wild and I am going to wait and see and move back away from the bleeding edge.

Goodluck to those who use it and I look forward to the rave reviews.

A Mod just told me this is the new ATS search engine!!!
I thought it must be a glitch!!

ATS software for the internet has been pretty faultless till this...

It's a WHITE screen... its HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No connection to ATS at all....

I just got here by clicking from "recent posts". It's showing.

Try searching for "ats search", shouldn't you find this post in the top of the search result?

It's not even showing, at least not in my end. (Tried "ats search*" too, no luck)

Always been a mystery to me why the search is so, with all due respect, flawed and weak.
Just suggesting that searching only titles would be a great help.
And the occasionally keyword search from a specific member, the usage of NOT and OR... just saying

I JUST HATE.......SAMURU It does not do anything when I try and use this, it's junk.

what's that blue 'e' with the gold ring around it in your title bar.

hmm..
looks familiar can't quite place it.

... ie 6 used to have some extra search options in uhhh... internet options.

or maybe newer ie's sometimes need you to replace your browser preferences by making a new user profile when some sites refuse to come up.
happens with firefox.

or maybe you need to reinstall your operating system
