I think Ron Paul would make a GREAT Sec Def.

He understands defense policy and will reign in all the neo-con pricks with reckless defense spending.

Oh but you can bet the JEWS would throw an absolute fit if he was confirmed.

PressTV has a rather nice and well written article about this.

That article is clearly biased yet I have to admit that it's based on well known facts.

America has asked / told / suggested that Israel not construct Jewish settlements on the Palestinian West Bank. Israel considers those settlements their right, and have thumbed their noses at America in fact creating another form of apartheid. The fact that Israel has bought themselves a bunch of senators to protect this policy is also an unfortunate fact, as is that Iran will never stop supporting the Palestinians while these Jewish settlements are being built.

It's also true that America's own Richard Perle helped create the neocon's Israel-first policy, and he's the same guy who went on to make the case to invade Iraq, unfortunately with a completely fabricated cover story. In short, the Israelis have created America's Neocons and use them to insure we stay engaged in fighting Israel's targeted enemies. Iran, included.

Adding insult to injury, America transfer $Billions to Israel every year, which they in turn use to buy our very own senators. Nice work Israel. No wonder Republicans scream if we try and reduce our payments to Israel, as our senators don't want a cut in their Israeli paychecks.

I would suggest that a kinder, gentler Israel, would make Mid East terrorism disappear, and along with it, the need for an obscene American defense budget. This observation is not 'off the wall' as it's in fact shared by a majority of Israel's population.

This from Veterans Today .com

“The authors conclude that Israel is currently the greatest threat to US national interests because its nature and actions prevent normal US relations with Arab and Muslim countries and, to a growing degree, the wider international community.”

The nay-sayers against Hagel have pointed to little other than his hearing. Who gives a damn about hearings? They are theater. Besides, how many of them have served in the military to begin with? Would they even know what they are looking at?

Granted Israel is not pleased with his selection and for that he should get a thumbs up. His position has nothing to do with the defense of Israel or at least it should not.

"I took an oath of office to the Constitution, I didn't take an oath of office to my party or my president."

And the problem with this is what? He has issues playing ball and those on the confirmation committee know that. As does the press. Ergo, the bad smear of the man.

Perhaps those opposed to him want another dud with no experience of what they will put young men and women through so they have a smooth road for further misadventure. But by God he looks great in front of a camera. So eloquent.
