You say "overcome" as if it is something "lower" and now we are "superior/higher". How can you know that darkness doesn't understand light? Darkness distorts/absorb light, and light is a very controlling force trying to spread itself across it.

Darkness cannot comprehend the light because it is the absence of light. You cannot comprehend something if it is not there.

This is a very duality like statement, the same thing could be said in reverse:


If darkness has not overcome light, then how can we see? Why is the sun in within darkness ?

Light cannot comprehend the darkness because it is the absence of darkness. You cannot comprehend something if it is not there.

Light is Form. Darkness is Emptiness - but emptiness is still something existent - although it is formless.

The form is WITHIN the formless. The light is WITHIN the darkness. So the same argument can be made about darkness overcoming light.
