Christopher Dorner was engaged in a shootout with federal authorities in the Big Bear area Tuesday, a law enforcement source told The Times.

I saw this just breaking on CNN a few seconds ago. Apparently, Dorner was attempting to burglarize a house and a firefight broke out between him and federal agents.

At the moment, it is unclear what the condition of the officers or Dorner is.

I was thinking that Dorner was long gone out of Big Bear for awhile now. I guess I was wrong on that one. The story is still breaking, so there's bound to be alot more information coming out soon.

ETA - A quick update - Dorner fleeing in stolen car, officer/officers down, couple was held hostage before the car theft.

That sucks, I wanted him to live to see trial.

Damn federal agents and not local police? How'd they get to him so fast? Either way, I'm sure he's dead or wounded and this chaos can be over and innocent people will stop dying to this morons hands and the hands of LAPD.

Some more info Im hearing and seeing is saying Dorner has fled in a stolen car. CNN is saying there are officer/officers are down. FOX also said he held a couple hostage before stealing the car.

ETA - CNN is saying the vehicle is a truck and they are chasing him at the moment. Some reports of gunfire still going on.

Well, I'll bet dollars to donuts he won't be alive when this whole thing is over.

The officers were in the killzone and couldn't be extracted, they apparently threw smoke to get them.

It's working fine for me right now.
Actually, I opened a new tab and can't access it. The one I had up previously works.
Oh, it loaded, it's just very very slow.

I hope they catch him alive....also unbelievable that he was stupid enough to still be in big bear area.
