However I immediately got a call from some civilization who was thinking about making plans to send robots to Earth and hack the satellites and spoof ip addresses so we can communicate.

And there we go....

That doesn't make any sense...why send robots anyhow? Why not just show up? Did they call you on your cell?

I imagine that at a certain point in the quest for any civilization to make contact with another, time is no longer an issue. Because of the sheer size of the universe, you resign yourself to the fact that it's probably not going to happen quickly, but rather over the course of hundreds of thousands of not billions of years. The intelligences you're trying to contact might not even exist at the same time you begin your efforts, or could easily be long dead by the time your attempt reaches them.

In that regard, I sometimes think the best way to make contact is to send something physical (radio and light are okay, but definitely lose a lot of their power quickly over long distances) that can ride through the cosmos, drawn by the small but unending force of gravity, and eventually find what it's looking for. A bacteria on a rock. A bacteria that can land on a suitable planet, adapt and evolve to thrive in the available environment, and eventually reach a level of existence that allows it to communicate with whatever intelligence is around it. I also like the idea (not original) of encoding into the bacteria a little bit of information about where it originated, and maybe a map to find it -- although after several billion years, tracking down a rapidly moving planet would be practically impossible.

All it would take is for the intelligence to evolve enough to decode the message in the DNA (or whatever) of the bacteria and read it. It could take billions of years, but again, there's no hurry. It's unlikely that anybody -- including ourselves -- sending out messages into space will be alive long enough to get direct responses, anyway.

If they call again, check the caller ID.

If you see this: "klaatu barada nikto"...

THEN we may have a problem.

Other wise I wouldn't worry too much.

That is as far as I got with your madness. Sorry if you had a point after that.

The ones I am in contact with just want to teach.

They're doing an awfully piss-poor job at it then. If they want to teach people, why not land at universities and start talking with the faculty to set up some courses?

No, they keep argueing about free will and all, so it's the humans that are doing it wrong. They can't land because they respect our immigration laws, passports, place of birth etc. Even if they were allowed they would have to wear special suits to protect themselves from negative human emotions and even with a suit they would have to feel something in order to fully understand humans.

They have universities but someone on the inside has to teach humans how to reach those.

Exactly.

If it's SO important that it needs be taught by aliens, then, the stupid aliens very well better bring themselves here and teach it in person.

Otherwise, the information is just more kooky bargain bin new aged reject drivel getting recycled by yet another nutter off their medications (or at least that's the common perception that will persist).

Hey, I object because I was never on medication. I explained why they can't land. Besides material laws they respect there's also the spiritual laws. The males rule the material laws and the women the spiritual laws, it's because of ancient systems from long gone tribes but their descendents still hang on to it. It's because some females once believed all life entered through their world, which is nonsense but there you have it.

The ET's have to fully enter which means also their psyche, which means they must let humans know through a psyche which can understand they are coming before they can tell humans the physical way. And in Earth's case there are so many people holding on the idea of a mother goddess that they have to let all our ancestors know as well for too many reasons for me to explain in a single post without anyone asking please in a genuine respectful manner.

But it is to us. How else are we going to meet without time and ofcourse a set of coordinates. Else first contact might have happened in the past on some other planet or worse in noplace somewhere in the future.

That might be true but the afterlife holds no secrets to them. Besides some oddities perhaps.

I think you are on to something, until you hit the paradox of what came first, the people of the future who created themselves in the past and so setting their own existence into motion or how everything always has existed without a beginning or an end, surpassing even those people from the future and/or alternate dimensions or timelines.

All it would take is for the intelligence to evolve enough to decode the message in the DNA (or whatever) of the bacteria and read it. It could take billions of years, but again, there's no hurry. Well if you put a manual inside the message along with a guide on how to reach them then it might work.

Two things, the material and spiritual. The spiritual side is that's because they could be killed on the spot which would mean they would be trapped inside the human beings soul until someone finds them and explains what happened. Go make some neanderthal understand modern day technology, then let him/her grasp their technology and you might as well forget about it as it would take too long and an operative might be out for awhile.

The material side would be because they can't establish first contact without sending the physical side as well. But also because most humans are easily attracted by material things and it is easier to make them look into the lights, it's pretty much the advanced civilization trading beads with the natives scheme.

And last but not least even if they came in their most protective suits, the human casualties would be considerable and that would negate the point of first contact when most of the population dies because of it.

It's mostly the story of how humans are children to them and they'd all compete for their attention and worldleaders would get all upset possibly launching nukes and maybe some might even get jealous when the ET's don't pick their capital to visit first and they would want to get even. They couldn't land all at the same time, there would still be a first to us linear singlepointed thinking humans.

They could theoretically use their own transmitters to broadcast from high orbit to individual WiFi receivers, so long as they have detectors that are sensitive enough to pick up the signal from the ground.

I really don't like the Idea of an Extraterrestrial being convicted of a crime, for simply attempting to communicate with humanity DIRECTLY, when our leaders apparently have no love of the Idea of humanity being anything more than ignorant chattel.....

It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, honestly...

But as for your ACTUAL Question... yes, I love the Idea of the people actually having DIRECT contact with extraterrestrials...

Kudos!

We are Rigel4..... Getting calls from alien civilisations is futile.
No one will believe you.

Next time ask them to use skype... it's cheaper long distance.

Maybe the point isn't that we are talking to Aliens....

Maybe the point is the new and unique perspective and wisdom that they can offer?
