I'm having it all the time.

Just different variations of it which "language" has a variety of labels we use to apply to different portions of it.

One time we call it anger. One time we call it joy. One time we call it sadness. One time we call it pain. One time we call it death. One time we call it birth. One time we call it "enlightenment". One time we call it "sleep". etc etc etc etc... thus the ultimate realization to dispense with the labels entirely.

However the variation of it that feels like people using words to describe "it" will always fail to describe it.

Not only have people claimed enlightenment...it turns out you were one of them. In all actuality, it would appear that LesMisanthrope was addressing you in particular.

And I can see a lot of what her points exemplified in your posts. The telescope analogy was a good one, but it does not change the fact that you are a prime example of her premise.

For BlueMule to be the prime example, s/he must fulfill the OP's perceived requirements for being vain yet enlightened, namely:

- one needs the confirmation of others to justify his way of life and spiritual path. If others agree he is enlightened, he feels better about the choices he has made.
- one seeks power or a feeling of self-gratification from being known as enlightened.
- one desires followers.

Do we agree BlueMule is enlightened?

Do we know BlueMule is enlightened, therefore s/he has power and the self-gratification that equates to vanity?

I don't make it a habit of coming right out and saying it though. Criteria vary so wildly, and it's not as if I consider it an acheivement on my part. I'm just an ego-self. Divine Grace deserves the credit. I just got out of its way.
