I am not saying that this hostage situation was some kind of a conspiracy by the government or anything.

But I do know it is being used as a propaganda tool to promote the use of any sized drones for "police" purposes.

This video by cnn brags about how drones will be undetectable in the near future.

I have no problem with camera's and drones being used for certain regulated circumstances. But I fear it won't be long before privacy is truly a thing of the past.

They will use every opportunity to use things like this as a propaganda tool to allow for police, private security, and who know who else to legally use these tools to "bring down criminals". But fact is we all know that most of the people these drones will be spying on are not criminals at all, they are just people like you and me.

how is it being used as a tool for drone use in the future? I'm confused as to how a drone would've altered this particular situation in any real way.

Watch the video, the video describes how they used small drones to get into the building and place cameras and microphones.

it actually describes how they COULD do that in the future. i've seen a number of reports where they talked about dropping microphones, phones, and cameras down the pipe into the bunker so they knew what was going on.

i've personally used "throw cameras" that would be absolutely small enough to get into that pipe and see what was going on inside there. the tech already exists to some degree, and has for a few years. i'm still not seeing how this incident is going to be used to further the use of drones. drones were being developed and used before this incident came along, and this incident isn't going to stop or speed that up.

Actually they did use drones.

FBI sources said surveillance drones constantly monitored the situation.

Article Link

Also if you go to the front page of cnn it flat out says "Secret camera, drones used to monitor Alabama kidnapper" as the article head line

With the help of the video game, movie, and other digital entertainment media, is now becoming normal.
And before you know it, these soldiers will be flying over your home.
And somebody in camouflage fatigues will be making the decision for that drone pilot as to wether or not your family is....acceptable collateral damage or......not.
While texting his wife to cook a steak that night.....
“The U.S. Air Force is in the midst of radical change, now training more drone pilots than fighter pilots.”

and if you go on The Daily Mail out of the UK they say it was a tiny camera inserted into the pipe, not a drone.
