So this is justice in Saudi Arabia? NO THANKS!
Prepare to be extremely ticked off.

Fayhan al-Ghamdi raped and tortured to death 5 year old daughter - gets light sentence

Celebrity Saudi preacher 'raped' and tortured his five-year-old daughter to death
- Lama al-Ghamdi's back was broken and she had been raped and burned
- She died in October from her injuries after ten months in hospital
- Her father Fayhan al-Ghamdi, a prominent Islamist preacher, admitted beating her but was freed after agreeing to pay £31,000 compensation

Lama al-Ghamdi had a crushed skull, broken arms, burns, a broken back and had been raped. Probably by 'daddy dearest'. He admitted doing what he did because he 'doubted the virginity' of this five year old child. (if she wasn't a virgin it was because HE raped her, I'm sure!). The judge in the case said that the famous Muslim preacher only had to pay a 'blood money' fine. Oh, and the 'blood money' fine for the death of this innocent little girl is only half that if it had been a boy.

This 'man of god' deserves to rot in hell for eternity.

Same story carried in Huffington Post

This is sick and that idiot should be severly punished.
What kind of a person would 'torture' a child.

Nope, any movement is crushed and we think the Iranians are a bad influence in the world.. These guys are worse and the only reason why we allow them to get away with it is because of their black gold.

You can judge a man by the way he treats his subordinates.

I would also suggest, you can judge a society by the same measure.

This is a country, that the USA sells lots of arms to. For as long as they keep buying Arms and selling them Oil, Saudi will forever get away with doing whatever it wants to its people. Losing a hand if you get caught theiving standard practice, so I hear.

By that standard this guy should be losing some other things too!

To the OP, you are right this is totally sickening and maddening. I can't understand what drives people to do this sort of thing and just as bad, why judges let them off relatively scot free with a slap on the hand.
Seems priests/ preachers/ holymen around the world have not just religion in common. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

That poor girl. I can't imagine what was going through her head. She is safe now.

This man should be tortured and kept alive for future torturing.
Oh, you got loads of monies? Rape and torture all you want! Just make sure you pay after!

What will come of this? Absolutely nothing.

How can we stop it??

Unfortunately many paedophiles use religion to justify their actions or as a means to indulge their evil practices, Islam is hardly exclusive in that respect.

Look at the countless instances of Catholic priests and the clergy of numerous Protestant denominations being involved in such goings on and it has been a common occurrence between Buddhist monks and young novices for centuries.

What is tragic is that various religious establishments have covered up these practices and even promoted those involved into senior positions.

The sentence passed in this case seems incredibly lenient and hardly sends a discouraging message to other's but I've got to say that the sentences passed out to similar cases in our countries aren't exactly fitting the severity of the crime committed
It seems more concern is given to the 'rehabilitation' of the offender and their reintroduction into society rather than the care and welfare of the victim and the punishment of the offender.

Is it any wonder considering the rumoured links with paedophilia and the clergy, judiciary and politicians etc of many nations and societies.

Why is it that anytime a major political or in this case a major religious figure, is involved with child abuse or child porn, they are either lightly punished or the "investigation" drags out until the media lose interest, then its never heard about again?
However, John Q Public, can download a picture of a 15 yr old girls boobs and they practically call out for a public castration, then sentence him to 10 years in prison.

I was going to share this via a RussiaToday link yesterday, but I would of just turned it into a rant.

We hear about all these atrocities in the middle east, but yet Saudi Arabia never gets mentioned by the mainstream media. Their the worse culprits when it comes to abusing human rights, but because their in Americas pocket (or vica verca) ..Nothign ever gets mentioned.

It makes me sick that a life can be paid for, it makes me even more sicker knowing the extent of abuse this sick bastard of an individual caused to this little girl, yet he paid $50,000 and got which will become an even shorter prison term.

Sick individuals needs their dicks chopping off, skin sliced off them and bathed in salt till they die. Rottem souls. I'v never believed in the after life, but I hope these sickos get judged after this life, because their country allows this #

I find it interesting that countries like Iraq and Libya have citizens who rebel despite the fact they enjoyed fairly liberal societies, had free healthcare and education as well as some measure of religious freedom, yet a ridiculously restricted and theocractic society like Saudi, the citizens seem fine

Im sure its totally unrelated but the Saudis are allies of the US while Iraq and Libya were trying to upset the status quo.
Once again Im sure its just a coincidence and that all Saudis are very happy with the way things are

Never heard of this guy before, and can't find a wiki page on him either, but here's hoping his "fame" gets flipped around against him now. I am glad there is a movement within the country that is going against him, and hopefully he'll get the punishment he deserves, although I doubt it
.

Irksome .. isn't it?? Saudi Arabia gets a free pass by the press and by the world at large. The UN 'human rights' groups never go after things like this. Probably because of all the money Saudi Arabia has and because it isn't in their political agenda to do so.

I did a search for him also and came up empty. But the articles from different sites say that he is well known in Saudi Arabia as an Islamist preacher. They give the impression that he got off because of his fame. Perhaps he has a lot of followers and the courts over there are afraid that if they gave him the death penalty (which he more than deserves) then he'd get his followers all worked up or something. Anyways, I couldn't find info on him either ...

I am glad there is a movement within the country that is going against him, and hopefully he'll get the punishment he deserves, although I doubt it

The movement that is complaining about him is the one that is trying to get the right for women to be able to drive in Saudi Arabia. So far, that isn't going so well. I don't know what kind of justice they could get in this case. They can't make much headway on their original movement (driving for women) ... and this case has already been ruled on. So I'm thinking it's a done deal.

Maybe some masked avenger will come along and do to him exactly what he did to his 5 year old daughter. THAT would be justice! If only .....
