When you are working in a factory stuffing boxes full of matches you may well change your mind on the above opinion.

Why would I want to do that? As I said, I have no desire to live as the third world does and I'm quite happy that the US CIA and military do everything they can to keep that from happening. There is a limited amount of resources in this world. Not everyone can live a first world life style. Life isn't fair, the world has always been a harsh place and always will be.

You might not get much choice if things continue going they way they do. The game in play has been set up by the US. But the Chinese are smarted and now beating you at your own game. If the game play had been different in the first place and people not so greedy things may well have been different. Lets hope the Chinese are more compassionate that their American counterparts when they enter the centre stage.

what about all the destruction, all across the board, that Africans are inflicting on Africa? genocides, blood diamonds, constant civil wars and coups, warlords hoarding food supplies and starving tens of thousands of people, resource devastation, wildlife mining to the point of extinction.....the list goes on.

Stop with that rubbish. The US gives more money to Israel in aid than it does to the whole of Africa. The aid is does give to Africa is polically motivated. They give it right wing groups and political groups that help to destabilize the region. The US has had its way with Africa far to long and you have left the place a bloody mess.

Now China has been playing it clever. They are doing a lot over there. But they are building infrastructure like hospitals and roads....

Sure, the Chinese. The same Chinese that are struggling to keep there growth continued by building deserted cities all over. China doesn't have the resources the US does at home or the ability to sustain an empire abroad to get those resources. The US has both.

Perhaps China is just getting ready for a time when their smog is so thick and their soil so contaminated that they need to move a few factories over to Africa to let the particulates settle in their own country. I mean sure the mini cities may be empty for now but you wait, they'll probably ship a large contingency of workers over there, move them into the buildings and then shut the gates to the impoverished outside. What else could their agenda be?

All that is trivial compared to injecting 20,000 tons of weapons into a country such as Libya. As it turns out that was just the first step in dominating that continent. France is doing the fighting now... whoops I mean NATO. We are there too. Just under reported.

Africans have been and will continue to destroy their own resources whether anybody is injecting anything into the continent or not, because they see money in the destruction of their own land. so no, it is not pointless at all.

I have a question. It might be generally off topic but I'm curious as to what websites(News related) that are trustworthy that I can go to that won't give biased articles on subjects going on around the world.

How is it a false dilemma? There are 7 billion people in the world. Do you think your first world life style is not dependent on taking from others? There is a limited amount of wealth in the world, even a slight bumb up of the standard of living in India and China has already effected you standard of living through the cost of oil and other resources. Or are you one of those international socialist that believe everyone should have an equal share and you are willing to give up your first world life style?

Anything other than the popular ones like NYTIMES,LATIMES,BBC,CNN,ABC etc etc.

ATS'ers are a broad base of opinions. Many bring news from sites that support the Main Stream, and others "another opinion". Big difference between mining with a pick and shovel and a modern mining operation with mega methods. The reason Africans are starving is because DeBeers is paying thugs (and thug governments) to enslave their own population to mine those blood diamonds (for instance). Not because they "do it to each other". Same with other resource raping by giant international corporations. The locals earn zero from all the rape of their land and pollution of their environment.

Trillions of dollars of ore, oil and diamonds have been extracted and the indigenous populations are as poor as ever. No wonder they have to hunt their animal populations to extinction and cut down the forests for firewood. They are starving.

Of course it makes them look backwards when they are filmed today. They have come to such a low place because of outside meddling in their affairs. You are seeing the result of all those decades of exploitation.

Now a new era of exploitation has begun. Newer methods of mineral extraction and the higher prices of those ores and oil make it worth while anew all over again. So now we will invade and conquer them again. This time outright military invasion and occupation.

Fighter jets and tanks against mud huts. The "terrorists" are anyone who shoots back. The conquerers write the news copy that cry "Intervention for Humanitarian reasons".
