I was told by a US Army Special Forces man that the founder of the Green Berets was assassinated some years later on his way to work somewhere in South America. Gots to watch that a## out there friends if you make a name for yourself like this.

You know, while this could be a random shooting, it's one of those things you are warned about. Repeatedly.

If you spray your name around, and what you've been up to, it paints a target on your back. You have to understand that as an SOC operator you're screwing mortally with government level entities. It's all fun and games until they figure out YOU were involved with [fill in the blank]. At that point, they've got relatively deep pockets to find you and deliver some personal payback.

That's why when you see real SF interviewed on TV, they take off their name tapes, and they introduce themselves by their first names - Sergeant Tom, Sergeant Mike and so on, they don't give their hometowns and they don't give you a lot of identifying info.

Consider - if you were SOC, would you want someone with millions of bucks to spend on the task finding out who your Mom was, or your wife, or kids? Do you want your five year old daughter's last sight to be some #hole whittling her head off with a machete because of something you did last year? Want to get a thumb drive in the mail with your Mom starring in a snuff video? "HA HA Sergeant Tom, remember when you did THIS last year? Now it is your turn to cry! (whack!)"

THAT is why you don't give your IRL name, unit, ODA number or what not in the open on a forum, or on a book, or news release. Screw that. Life is short enough without worrying about that sort of thing.

He was helping a marine who had PTSD and the marine snapped and shot Chris point blank. And Chris's neighbor who was helping too.

Whoa whoa whoa.... this is the same Chris Kyle who also wrote in his book he punched Jesse Ventura in a San Diego SEAL bar back in 06. Ventura cried foul and was suing him. The trial was supposed to really kick off in a few months but now he is dead?

Wow, wtf? Shot by a Marine who had PTSD? Why would you take anyone with PSTD to a shooting range? From what I can find so far there was a charity event for veterans so that explains why he was the range with disable vets. Still, terrible place to be for those with mental issues.

Top Navy SEAL sniper killed on gun range of West Texas resort

www.star-telegram.com...

Chris Kyle, a retired Navy SEAL with the highest number of confirmed kills, was fatally shot Saturday along with another man on the gun range of Rough Creek Lodge, a posh resort just west of Glen Rose, Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant said.

The 25-year-old suspect was apprehended about five hours later in Lancaster, southeast of Dallas, more than 70 miles from the scene, Bryant said.

The suspect, identified as Eddie Ray Routh, 25, was pursued to a house in Lancaster by officers, including a local SWAT team. Routh again try to flee in a vehicle but was stopped after spikes were laid across a road, Bryant said.

"The suspect has been caught and is in custody in Lancaster," the sheriff said. Erath County sheriff's investigators and Texas Rangers were securing a capital murder warrant.

Witnesses told sheriff's investigators that the gunman opened fire on the two men around 3:30 p.m., then fled in a pickup truck belonging to one of the victims.

The motive of the shooting remained unclear, he said. "Not a clue; absolutely no idea."

An unconfirmed report suggested that Routh had been on the range with Kyle and the other man, and they might have been acquainted.

In January 2012, the Cleburne Times-Review reported that Eddie Ray Routh of Lancaster was arrested in Johnson county on a DWI charge.

There's a clear message to all former military special operators: Keep your yapper shut.

I'm guessing the suspects name was Lee Harvey Oswald or something similar. WInk, nudge.

I used to take people with PTSD out camping/hunting. OTOH, they weren't 'ragers', they just got overloaded at times and had to 'get away from it all' for a few days.

I did know a FR that was a rager, he was also a deputy on the SO's SWAT team. Great shot. Lived way out in the sticks, thank god, and every once in a while, it would get to him, and he'd climb up on his house roof and shoot at 'people trying to surround the house', which luckily were all in his head. His buddies covered it up until he finally retired.

Not all PTSD comes out the same, it's real individual. I guess if true, they just misjudged the guy, or thought he wouldn't do a rage at the range. I'd be worried about going out with someone having delusional episodes, but then the sheriff's office locally were ok with Mike. It's a crazy world.

You haven't heard about it? It's nothing new and lots of us are well aware of it but if you're implying Ventura had something to do with this murder you'd be mistaken.

Now the question I ask is was this Eddie Ray Routh apart of DARPA or involved with any Gov't anything, you know, a prime suspect for mind control. Either that or he is just bat poop crazy.

In 2008, he made his longest successful shot after he spotted an insurgent with a rocket launcher near a U.S. Army convoy at a range of 2,100 yards (1.2 miles).

Yes it's very fishy but then again what would anyone gain from Kyles death? The SEAL who wrote the book about the OBL raid has enemies but not soo much with Chris Kyle, well besides Ventura.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. Interesting how none of the MSM sources mentioned the lawsuit with Jesse. Maybe Ventura was being 'swift-boated,' and someone was worried the op would be exposed if the lawsuit went forward. The higher-ups don't like loose ends, and maybe they figured Kyle was a loose end.

It could be the perfect framing for mental stability, psychiatrist note needed for gun purchase kind of law to be worked into the system. Why give a PTSD sufferer a gun on a range or not? Well, if he legally purchased it prior to his ailment and he has done nothing wrong, he woudl be within his rights to keep owning it. Now if every soldir that came back from a tour was checked for mental fitness and one were found unstable, under some new law, perhaps they would try to remove his weapons since he could be viewed as a danger to himself and others.
I know it is far fetched.... just tryign to make sense of it

I'm not calling you out personally, because this is the current modus operandi, but that sounds completely bogus to me. Sounds like something you'd feed to a dumb fish, hook line & sinker.

"Oh, crazy person did it, makes sense... Who's on American Idol tonight?"

Yet another high profile shooting where the shooter doing the deed is only "allegedly" the shooter, knowing absolutely nothing about it other than, "We think we caught the guy, sooo.. yea." Okay then, the media will make sure to follow up on that in the next 6 months or so to make sure you don't forget about it.

By the way I'm not "defending Chris Kyle's honor" or anything, I think he was scum.

It should be noted that Ventura himself thought the allegations by Kyle were part of an organized plan, and not just the words of a braggart:

www.theblaze.com...
. .....I am perplexed over the agenda this man has and why a fellow Navy Seal would tell a lie about an event that never happened. Clearly between this story and the previous week’s story about supposedly getting pulled over for tailgaiting (sic) in CA that was also a lie, someone is out to destroy my credibility. I find it very interesting that both these stories are being spread by Fox news and it’s (sic) affiliates. ....
