The way the government and media talk about Al-Qa’ida at times can be very misleading.

You are right to say that they claim Al-Qa’ida is on the run and belief it or not they are correct to say so. When they say “We have Al-Qa’ida on the run” what they should actually say is we have “Core Al-Qa’’ida” on the run, that is the group lead by Bin Laden and Zawahiri. They use the term as a umbrella term yet don’t differentiate the different Al-Qa’ida groups. They days of core Al-Qa’ida attacks are long gone, now however we have the rise of the franchise groups and those inspired by the ideal of Al-Qa’ia and that is the new threat. In all probability it was Al-Qa’ida in the Islamic Maghreb who made this threat as opposed to “Core Al-Qa’ida”.

Its all to do with how the government and media talk about Al-Qa’ida they incorrectly use the term as a catch all to explain the very complex and real threat of Islamic terrorism. It’s much easier just to say “Al-Qa’ida” than it is to explain some new threat so the government just go with it as well as that it is also a easier sale to the public.

Thats exactly what it is. And it comes across a lot more scary also..

I think that poster was referring to the “all war is deception” quote, but you would be surprised I have read that some members of Al-Qa’ida have read the like of the Art of War many of them are very intelligent.

I do have to agree with you and give you a star however for your analysis of why they have posted this threat, it’s for propaganda more than anything else.

Al-Qaeda were in Iraq also don't forget that.. The death toll was just under 1 Million when I last looked and I'm sure 100,000 terrorists and coalition soldiers haven't died..

This has been going on way before 9/11 what about the attacks embassy attacks or the attack on the USS Cole.

I would argue that this has been brewing since the establishment of the Jewish state, it would be more accurate to say that since 9/11 it has become a bigger issue but to say it started with 9/11 is wrong.

By making such a claim you are then implying that Islam = terrorism.

Simply not true.

What we are looking at now with the emergence of Al-Qa’ida is a terrorist threat never seen before at it is operating in a new constitutional order. This like I have said has really been festering since the dawn of the Jewish state (I am not anti-Israel) it is a disastrous fall out form the last long war that has started this new long war that we now see.

Alxandro has a point. Our wonderful and trustworthy government has been telling us that Al Qaeda is on the run and is disorganized etc etc. Obviously Al Qaeda is still around. They've been threatening the USA for decades and decades. It's their dream. If they have the ability ... we don't know. But they sure want to. No question about that.

And that is exactly why they must be destroyed. I am sure the CIA will kick their A@@#.
