why does it have to be alien, it can be a human base just as it can be from an extraterrestrial race.

You're right -- it's not the Lunar Module. It's the Command Module in orbit above the Moon (not on the Moon), as seen in this similar picture from this earlier post. This image gives a slightly different view of it:

At the time of my first post we didn't have the rest of the information other posters presented lol, good job people... Guess i should have gone to specsavers!. It would be nice if we did have a man made moon base though think that will never happen.

Wow that's crazy it's so obvious once you know (as are so many things). So the picture is right above it and that's the reflective conical walls of the capsule. Cool.

Because when earthlings visit the moon, we are technically aliens.
