It's 18 in my state. It may vary per state. So it could be 16 yrs or older depending on the state.

Well, there is this way to look at it.....

The child will always have a reminder of what that mother is capable of and how little compassion she has for pain and suffering in others.

Sure a Tattoo is a painful thing plenty of people get through and it's not that bad . . . for an adult or teen maybe. I'm guessing to a child that age with no real understanding? It was as bad as any torture for the pain from the child's perspective.

My son will be 3 in May and I couldn't imagine what would be going through his little mind if he was subject to the same thing. I think that mother needs her ass kicked and that tattooist needs his nuts and taint inked with a shovel needle so he can see the type of pain and horror he put that little guy through.

There is a special place in hell for folks like that!

This guy needs to have his business license revoked and this mother needs to have her kid taken away.

People wonder why kids these days are disrespectful and borderline useless, then stories like this come out and it's easy to see where the finger should be pointed. As messed up as it is, things like this or MTV's teen mom make me think that being a parent is a privilege and not a right. Some people should not be allowed to have kids, plain and simple.

Jeez what the hell is wrong with some people? I can barely hold my kids without crying while they are receiving their shots at the doctors office, I couldn't imagine how out of touch with reality this mother is.

Normally I say that dshs and the state try to be too involved in childrens life's at home but in this instance they need to intervene and that mother needs some jail time. Just sickening!

If I had to venture a guess, being this is in Cuba I doubt he has a business license of any sort. Not only do I worry for that little boy because of the pain of the tattoo but also if proper sterilization procedures were followed and there is after the fact to think bout. Im guessing that since she was stupid enough to even do this that she will not take care of said tattoo after the fact making sure it does not get infected.

Those are all valid points.

This story is seriously jacked up. Sometimes I wish I was a hacker, I would get all the info I could on this "person" and make sure her life sucked and her kid didn't have to deal with her anymore.

Not only shallow and cruel, but self-absorbed and almost "autistic". Have you noticed when you're out in public how everyone seems like they are completley unaware of anyone else around them? Have you noticed how bad drivers are getting these days?

Americans are spoiled rotten compared to most of the world's population. When hard economic times happen, people start to not give a crap about anyone else besides themselves. It's all about what they want, what they need and screw everyone else.

It's pretty sad.

Why are you all judging?

This is the parent this child got. And the child belongs to the parent, who will raise the child as she sees fit, no matter how fit or unfit you, based on your own value systems, judge her to be..You're always going to like some things parents do to their children and not like others, but you have no right to judge or interfere unless a child's life is being threatened.

You can posture and gasp and be appalled and spout about this all day long, but the bottom line is that it's not your kid and not your business. It's nobody's business but the child's mother's.

I'd venture to say at least half the people posting judgmental things here are the same ones that scream bloody murder about government infringing on their "rights" yet seem to be advocating just that...or worse, as in maybe a vigilante posse...here.

By the way, my kid screamed bloody murder through his first five haircuts. He also screamed bloody murder to get his ear pierced at 6 and then screamed during it. Guess he should have been taken from me eh?

This was a small tattoo, and for all you know, the kid will love it too.

But hey, judge away!

A Dominican news site claims the video originated on Facebook, and the people involved are followers of the infamous Growing In Grace International Ministry.

The child is allegedly being branded with the mark of the cult: 666.

I've never heard of these folks but I suppose that makes sense. Either way, poor kid.

In Louisiana it is 16 and 17 with parental consent and minor and adult must have I.d.s. I got my first when I was 17 with parental consent. Adult mist remain there the whole time. 18 is of course the consent age without a parent.

ETA: That woman should be bound to a pole and stabbed with a needle every hour on the hour. Extreme? No. Here focing a tattoo on a helpless child is extreme

First off don't compare a tattoo to a haircut. They are NOT EVEN REMOTELY SIMILAR. Do you even know anything about tattoos and the pain that is associated with them? An ear piercing is over in a fraction of a second where as a tattoo is at least an hour long process.

As for my right to judge this "mother" if you want to call her that, you betcha, as a parent I am going to judge her by her actions and take the view that she is a pathetic example of motherly love and everything a parent SHOULDN'T be. You may not care and that's fine but I can tell you I bet 99% of loving parents out there would never put their children through such an ordeal as this. As far as your believe that its no one's business how this mother treats her child you are wrong. When a child is being abused it should be the business of those who actually care about children, and not be ignored. For all we know maybe this video will go viral and this child will be placed with a loving family instead of this poor excuse of mother.

You are entitled to your opinion and your judgement. I am merely saying that you are judging a person based on a biased a perspective that is biased on many, many levels. Perhaps cultural among them and for sure being fueled by your righteous indignation.

Again, this is her child, not yours. And I'm sure that being the saintly parent that you are no one could ever find a thing to judge you on, right?

And it is not the haircut I was comparing, it was the screaming. Many kids just don't like to be held down for any reason.

I'll ask again do you know anything about tattoos?? I'm guessing you don''t since you seem to assume that the child is screaming from being restrained rather then being stabbed repeatedly with needles for a prolonged period of time.

the ironic thing is that the tattoo is a heart that says "mom" in the center

Obviously doesn't know how painful getting a tattoo is.

Also, I'm sure that kid will love having 666 on their body for the rest of their life.
