Date of sighting: January 21, 2013
Location of sighting: Russia

Late at night this glowing tornado like vortex was seen coming from the sky. The long arm like end reached almost to the ground and began to get a orange colour near its tip. Then suddenly another UFO was seen in the dark sky...cone shaped that then disappeared except for a white orb that continued to travel through the sky.

rocket / missile launch. I'm no UFO debunker but this is so obvious, they suck for perpetuating it.

......FACEPALM.

You'd think that site would know a thing or two about this happening by now. Now I know if I ever see that URL to simply ignore clicking it. What a joke.

***ETA***

Scrolling down that page and looking at their "news" feed is absolutely embarrassing, and makes me feel bad for anyone that buys into anything that is being posted there. Just TERRIBLE.

4 people at the same time say missile launch

Ill go with swamp gas reflecting off a weather balloon

Edit: You all seem very certain, can one of you explain the mechanics of it? how did what I assume to be an exhaust trail stay in place and lit up for 3+ minutes?
Surely a self destruct would have resulted in a loud bang or something?

Hate to be a party-pooper but that really is a failed missile launch ... you can tell by the squiggly spiral (to use the technical terminology)

That said don't let it put you off sharing any other strange things you might see in the sky ... next time you might be onto something and either way you've learned something new

OK Missile launch...

But why does the smoke trail stays enlightened? Even when bended and for minutes..?

My first taught would be the rocket engine still producing enough light downwards to enlighten the trail..
But minutes long?

Strange stuff.

I've never seen a long glow like that from a missile, they must have had some different fuel containing some efflorescent chemistry. There is something a little weird about this, I wish I could understand the language. Why would someone there be surprised about this, they would be used to seeing common missile launches. New technology?

Rocket Launch? I don't think so... why the persistent light? It lasts far too long to be the trail left by a rocket... That's said, I have no idea what it is. A Project Blue Beam experiment???

Perhaps the propellant used is plasma like? Maybe that was the real test. Not the rocket, but instead, the propellant.

It's not a far stretch to think that some kind of propellant they used is either super heated and/or reflecting itself off of the sun that high in the air. There are countless kinds of gases plasmas and other propellants that could be reflecting the light of the sun.

It seems to me to be either just before dawn or just after dusk, meaning that the elevation would be in direct sunlight, even though it is dark on the ground...

Hence the "lighted" vapor trail...
