Limits on magazines makes no sense. First of all it violates the "Shall not infringe" clause. A 10 round magazine can be changed very quickly, like 1 second fast. Limits like these do nothing to prevent crime. Someone could do more damage with a 1 ton pickup, or a can of gas if they are really determined to cause trouble. What we should be asking is why these things happened so rarely in the past, and what has changed in our society to cause them now. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Being in California, you say there is a rising crime rate.

Yet california has an assault weapons ban. These thugs. Where did they get the assault weapons they are using if they are banned in your state? Your own post is mild evidence that an AWB is pointless. because those thugs are willing to violate the laws and get those weapons.

I know you want to believe we can make a difference. But you need to accept the reality that criminals commit crime. (DUH) and they will get their hands on weapons.

Answer me, why can't we persecute the criminal for using their weapon instead of persecuting the owner for having the weapon for his or her defense.

You can ban assault weapons all you want. Hell, they've been banned for a whole 25 years and change. But those same criminals are still using full auto Mac 10s. Nothing has stopped them from getting them, and nothing we do short of proactive border enforcement will.

A little welding and cleanup is all thats required to have a Full Auto UZI etc.. Kits like this generally sell for about a $1,000 which is like a half days pay slinging rock!

There are literally 10's of millions of these parts kits in country and they come in just about any flavor of weapon you could want. The last assault weapons ban saw a massive influx as suppliers sought to keep their profits on par with pre ban times. Instead of converting the guns to semi auto and selling them with checks they just cut up the full auto guns to meet ATF specs and shipped em in. Once cut they are no longer considered a firearm.

Most kits do not come ready to go like this, and require much more work.

Let me explain this to some of you who dont want to accept the truth.

The Founding Fathers of the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, Articles of Confederation, and the US Constitution all warned in various writings that our freedom down the road could be taken away by continual trading of rights for more security, and they warned of a person one day on a white horse who would promise everything while being a tyrant to the people.

The Modern American Left, and Progressives, and Socialists, and the USA Communist Party all advocate for taking away peoples guns. Their argument because they live in so called safe enclaves is that only police and the military have a need for guns. And some of them have other agendas in gun control. If the people dont have guns, then the government forces can do anything they wish to the people.

Observe Cuba, the former Soviet Union, the former East Germany, North Korea, and China, and more. The populace of those countries have no means to defend themselves with firearms, the governments are oppressive to the people.

Barak Obama is on record on video being interviewed back before he became president that he doesn't like our current constitution. He states that it is a negative bill of rights because it doesn't include what the Government CAN DO for the people. He has stated he would like a new constitution one day. As has Hillary Clinton and others in high profile positions.

Automatic Weapons have been severely restricted since the 1930's. You can purchase a fully automatic if you pay the high fees for such clearance and pass the background checks. Yet this is not offered to hunters or everyday people. Automatic Weapons are for the military, police, and select individuals granted the right to have them.

Semi-Automatic weapons may be purchased by anyone who today can pass a simple background check.

Automatic means you pull the trigger once and the entire clip or magazine fires away until empty.

Semi-Automatic means you have the pull the trigger independently with each round of fire. EACH BULLET

Be careful of falling into the trap of believing that Semi-Automatic weapons should be taken away from people, of which in your mind you are thinking solely of Ak-47 type weapons. Understand there are Politicians and certain Groups who would like to take All Guns Away.

By definition if you can just simply pull the trigger, bang bang bang bang bang bang until the gun is empty, solely by pulling the trigger alone. THAT IS SEMI-AUTOMATIC WHICH INCLUDES EVERY TYPE OF HANDGUN CLIP MAGAZINE OR REVOLVER ON THE MARKET.

The only guns by definition that are not semi-automatic are bolt action rifles, and pump shotguns. Because they require an independent force to reload before the trigger mechanism will work.

The gun control advocates are attempting by various means and measures to eventually disarm the entire American Populace, and make buying Ammo so expensive that normal people cannot afford it.

And you need to look deeper into their reasons for why.

When in fact, there are many styles of SAA, or Single Action Only revolvers which can not be considered semi-automatic. As you must pull the hammer back before the weapon can be fired...

Not "re-chambered", but simply press two pins out, and swap out the entire upper to whatever caliber you want!
With just a mag change and possibly the buffer spring....

Currently there are around 50 different calibers that you can get the standard AR-15 chambered for. And a dozen or so more, for the AR-10....

This is why they want to ban the AR in .22 long rifle. The lower is the same for over 4 dozen rounds....

I'm not sure if this has ever been brought up before on ATS but although what happened in Waco, Tx was just a case of Janet Reno and her co-jerks 'jumping-the -gun" as it were!
Although the Branch D's were 'out there and strange' the FBI stated they were raiding it because of the use of illegal non-registered fully-automatic machine guns! What they found after the BBQ'ed all those people were legal semi-automatics and a few fitted with plastic (and this is important) ATF APPROVED devices that clip on the trigger guard and has a crank, when you turn the crank a small oblong disk rotates and pushes the trigger enabling you to fire it very fast (but not very accurate)

This was a simple case of the FBI caught with egg on their face (just like Ruby Ridge) and they will ALWAYS try to call those they kill 'terrorists', 'crazies'. 'outlaws', etc. they make up the laws to cover their screw-ups

For sure, what these incompetent idiots thought would happen is the whole country would see them quickly overrunning a terrorist organization and 'rescuing' the people but in a comedy of errors they opened Pandora's Box and with the whole world watching a small group hold off the likes of our modern military they had to finally knock it down without regard to the 'members' and tried to blame it on the cult members setting the fires and dying in a dramatic suicide 'pact'! I think everyone knows now the people inside tried to protect the women and children but the fires along with the tear gas prevented them from escaping (very convenient as the dead tells no tales).
The problem is I think they learn a little more from each of these attacks on US citizens so when it comes time they will do it with 'slightly' more efficiency (meaning they will kill quicker and have some enemy of the state to blame BEFORE they start!)

This is a pretty big list consisting mostly of rifles that are classified as pistols,(so fun), full size assault rifles, as well as magazine loaded shotguns like the Saiga 12. I for one feel this is a direct violation of the constitution, and should be shot down immediately, no pun intended.

If a criminal wants a gun...he knows he can't pass a background check....think he will still try and do the paper work? Nope he will find another way...normally get a buddy that can pass a background check to buy the gun for him..

And by clips i assume you mean magazines? If i am carrying 100 rounds of ammo with me...what doez it matter if it is in 3 magazines or 4 or 5? This whole bs theory that someone can jump a shooter while changing mags

I think that we have been into the culture for too long that we are not sure what the government and these people who say ban guns are really doing. This country is nutts. The only time you ever hear a politician saying anything is when they are saying don't. Will smith google the names of the guns.

The Feinsteins are lousy we need now to get more people that are real laws that are not this ban this. Feinstein’s go up into a tree and cry. Cry us a river about guns and violence, guns don’t kill the people pulling the trigger do though.

But what prison would you put the people who are there? Hands and feet anything can be deadly if the person knows what they are doing. Karate and judo those can turn into some kind of vicious weapon but most of the time, not nothing can some one compare to a gun or rifle especially in the hand of a good marksman or someone who has a lot of mean. Freakin jail time for the average person who wants to own a firearm, come now. We are heading towards a society that looks like a version of the stasi.The guns of semi-autos those are real for people who use them for gun training or for self protection, I am thinking that more and more this is making us accept the dumbing down of our rights under a new government.
