Yes, for emergency treatments and it has to be administered intravenously, small doses only as it is very dangerous: overdose of NaHCO3 can quickly
result in fluid overload which can cause, among other things, acute pulmonary oedema. This is, in simple words, lungs filling up with liquid with
obvious fatal consequences if not treated immediately.
Ingesting bicarbonate will never change your body PH. Large doses can cause your potassium to drop, which causes heart problems and it could lead to
cardiac arrest.
And if you are thinking of injecting bicarbonate be very careful, because if it's not done by real professionals it can end up leaking into your
tissues and cause something called chemical cellulitis, which leads to necrosis (premature tissue death which has to be removed surgically to save the
person).
Urine PH is not the same as blood PH, so using testing strips for your urine means nothing.
