HONOLULU (AP) — A Coast Guardsman has reappeared after vanishing and being declared a missing person more than three months ago, Honolulu police and the Coast Guard said Tuesday.
Petty Officer First Class Russell Matthews returned home Sunday night, police said. Police say he was incoherent and taken to a hospital for observation.

That is a very interesting story indeed. If a mass shooting occurs in Hawaii we need to remember this story.

these would be my 2-3 first guesses
so the guy wasn't actually missing, he was just in an area where noone knew him, and didnt himself realise he was 'missing' or even perhaps that he was 'he'.
this kind of thing is quite common over shorter periods of time (1-2 weeks), could just be an extreme case. Usually if they are found before they find their way home, they are found homeless or in a shelter, sometimes in a mental institution/hospital.edit on 23-1-2013 by cartesia because: (no reason given)
