No, I never said any specific authority should have guns. NO ONE SHOULD.

Let's face it, the background check system is seriously flawed.

Yes take guns away from the police!!!

If you read the whole story it was the police officer who was checking the gun in who shot it off..

Well, aside from the fact this idiot actually fired it somehow, the system worked just like it's supposed to as I read this. It was caught at the weapons check, just as the table is set up for. The shows here are the same. every gun coming into the building is given to the Sheriff Deputy at the entrance table for inspection and to secure with a zip tie through the action. Now....how did it actually discharge?

..and yeah, I think he does deserve criminal charges. Reckless endangerment? Discharge within city limits? Careless disregard? DEPRAVED INDIFFERENCE? Oh, I could surely come up with a few if asked.

Here is another gun show accident. And this was a vendor who shot himself.

sandhills.news14.com...

CHARLOTTE--A vendor at the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in north Charlotte went to the hospital Sunday morning, after police said he shot himself in the hand. According to the event's website, the Dixie Gun and Knife Show is touted as the largest of its kind in the state to buy sell and trade weapons, accessories and equipment. Police said the man was holding the gun in his left hand when it went off, striking him in the web of his right hand. The show's organizers were tight lipped on what happened, and had no comment, but said the case was under review. Medics said the man is in his late 30s or early 40s, and was clearing a .40-caliber weapon when it went off, striking his hand. The accident happened just before 10:00 a.m. Sunday, minutes before the gun and knife show was set to open to the public. People who were heading to the show and knew some of the rules said the incident is rare for a show of its size. "Have to have it unloaded. Have it holstered. I don't believe you can have it concealed. It's very surprising. A lot of professional people out here who take a lot of caution with their weapons," said Randy Stein. CMPD said the department's assault with a deadly weapon unit is investigating, which is standard procedure. Police don't expect the man involved will face any charges. The problem with that argument is it works both ways.

Think of the children...

Mom shoots intruder, saves kids

I'm really tired of hearing things like this from people who have no real clue on daily statistics. In my opinion saying (or typing) a statement like that is pure and utter ignorance, so please R N G do us all a favor

Go a head and change the subject. I thought we were talking about gun shows and the safety of them. My post are gun shows from the last three months where people were shot at them. And I own three guns. I see nothing wrong with them. Just the high capacity magazine and assault style rifles. Also the ease that people can get them at gun shows with no background checks. Also I think the big push they are starting on suppressors should not be allowed.

It's not even about statistic. I know about them.

But let's face it. You'll have an easier time dodging a car than you would a bullet.

Pfft. more people are killed by drunk drivers each year than by guns.. Lets just ban cars... or better yet, lets ban drunk driving.. oh yea, we already did

Supressors have been illegal for years so I am lead to believe..

You can still get them with a special license and tax.

Here's the story from a LOCAL news station, in Raleigh, NC...

Witnesses told WRAL a gun went off after being checked by a law enforcement official at a safety check. The shots hit a man in the hand and a woman in the side

Emphasis, mine...

So it was the officer who caused it, and all of the officials are trying to minimize legal recourse by the victims. All the while painting gun shows "Bad News"...You have to love this country....

They now want them for everybody so they can protect their ears. They want to get rid of the licences needed for them.

GOOD! A $200 tax stamp for a sound limiting device is rather absurd, don't you think?
