Question, as some of you seem to know a little about this.

Do the Tier one units in America or another state have anything equivalent to this.

Care to elaborate on that, are you saying that such a club does exist or that it might exist and you don’t know either way.

It's a very interesting place inside...lots of history. That's all I'll say ; )

lol, this is one of those difficult ones...no photography is allowed in there and 'Chatham house rules' apply. i.e what's seen and heard and spoken of in there remains in the club, so proof of actually having been there would be difficult without breaking club rules. I've been in a number of times..it's not a 'grand' club like some of the others in Mayfair, but the food is good, the club red is especially nice and it's a nice place to go when in London. They do have a very good program of talks throughout the year. Membership has expanded in recent years to include certain Police roles and some support arms.......that wasn't a popular move with a lot of the members.

There's no membership card, just a discrete keyfob to get you in the front door, no secret handshakes, and you don't know who you may be talking to at the bar. Club etiquette says you should always talk to the person to your ight at the bar, but it's poor etiquette to ask what they do/did. Club tie might give away something of the wearer's background..green is commonly worn by those 'south of the river'..i.e SIS and blue by those 'north of the river'.There are a number of pictures of the entrance hall and stairs on the web. the walls are hung with pictures of members of SOE and SF, black frames denote the member was killed in action. It's alleged that th IRA's attack on Harrods in 1983 was a failed attempt to attack the club. The IRA certainly knew of its existence and that it was located 'close to' Harrods in Knightsbridge, but not its exact location..good job the internet didn't exist then as the club address and phone number is available to anyone who can do a search, although if you call, all you'll get is a 'hello' when they answer

Shooter's in San Diego comes to mind. Been there as an invited guest. I've also been to the SF Club in London. October 87 again as an invited guest. Some of the SAS guys are pretty decent people.
