Because I think freemasonry's noble purpose requires such a caliber of men that it is loses its way when people are admitted who have no thirst for its esoteric secrets or rituals. I have no problem giving a black ball any applicant who thinks freemasonry is a charity (charity is key to freemasonry, but not our fundamental purpose), or a country club.

Yeh so you use that same attitude and principle in the work place and employment to keep non masons out of jobs that should be based on merit. You pple dont like the profane working whom you blacklist if you dont like someone or consider them a threat to your secret world you most likely tell or bros in business /management/HR anyone with the decision to hire &fire not to hire someone you hate or at least not hire someone over a bros. You re stupid organised crime society interfers with what would otherwise be a merit based system. Yet no doubt your stupid members are behind the rightwing progroms against welfare recipients telling them they are scum because of the jobs and oppertunities you destroy in favour of your inbred cult members.

Maybe you should stop blaming everyone else for your FAILURES and start accepting some responsibility. It's possible you didn't get the job because your attitude sucks and you are too immature. Grow up, put on the big boy pants, and quit looking for excuses.

Are you aware of who he was quoting here? I was wondering which of you actually said, or felt that way, because I was gonna ask where were you when I was petitioning my lodge!!!

Wow

That's an Olympic-quality leap of logic. You assume that all Masons are management-level; you'd be wrong. But I'm sure it'll take more than one person pointing this out to disabuse you of that cherished belief

You can take some comfort that if a company were to follow the actions you describe, it'd be denying to itself the best candidates for whatever position and in effect will be signing its own bankruptcy papers. You on the other hand will have the moral satisfaction of watching an outfit be hoist on its own petard.

I'm sure your patience will be rewarded in due time.

Just how many men in today's society do you think are actually Freemasons? By your logic, it would seem that it'd need to be something of a majority of men to have that sort of dampening effect on non-Masons you posit. In my experience, one of the biggest factors standing in the way of someone getting a job is poor spelling and grammar skills.

Just an observation; YMMV

You obviously don't know that discussion of politics is forbidden within in the Lodge...

Your point is highly irrelevant, not to mention, invalidated.

You know sometimes on these forums I find myself staring at what I wrote, and then what someone replies with. And I go "what in the world is going on here..." because there appears to be no relationship between what I wrote and the reply. This is one of those times.

It literally makes no sense how we go from "I believe masons and people interested in being masons should be tolerant, non-bigoted people who are interested in protecting freedom of religion and association" to you claiming that I somehow at my job try to keep non-masons out and disregard merit. I mean its bizarre, because not only did I never say anything like that, its not even close to being implied in what I said and makes no sense given the context of what I was actually typing. How do you stir up this much hatred and imaginary conspiracies (I mean really? Freemasons are against welfare now?) from this post?

Its almost as if you have a political agenda and axe to grind and are looking for people to get mad at, and masonry acts as a convenient target....even when it literally has nothing to do with your bizarre and wide ranging accusations...

What Freemasonry Is To Me...

The Municipality Is Created And A Spirit Is Born. It Is A Host To Peoples. A Nationality Is A Spirit.
A Father Passes On The Legacy To Son... And The Spirit Remains Holy. It Is Venerated And Revered.
BUT! But As It States In The Bible... "The First Born" Is The Name That Is Given To The Garrison/Army Of That Municiplaity... Hence The First Born Of... Are Consecrated To...

Anyhoo...
What Becomes Of The Craftsmen (Or Freemasons) In The Municipality Is What????

Can A Mason Help With This Perplexity... It Bugs Me Not Know.

I would respect freemasonry more if it didnt exclude athiests or females.

The whole idea of separating people should have died out with slavery... but alas old men...

There are many who sit and piss and moan about the Freemasons. No matter what their "purpose" or where the higher ups go after they climb the ranks and get bored with the amount of influence they have in their town, lodge, etc. In reality they are just a fraternity. An exclusive club where men of the same ideals get together and get what their psyche yearns for; ritualistic structure. They decided that Catholicism, Satanism, or whatever they personally believe was just not enough to satisfy that urge, or their ideals so they sought some place that they could pay to gain more influence, more rituals, and fellowship. There might have been a more sinister purpose earlier, (if you call trying to gain more power sinister). But in all actuality, that is something we all strive for through different avenues of our lives, promotions at work, etc. I use linguistic prowess to gain influence over others, does that make me evil, sinister, or part of a bigger conspiracy? Well, I use symbols, triggers, subliminal messages, is that wrong? You do it when you argue with your spouse, sibling, parents, just on a less powerful scale.

Having membership requirements is not equal to slavery.

Would you be comfortable learning lessons out of the Bible and praying to the God of your choice?
It's nothing against Atheists, it's just that Freemasonry has religious undertones and the Atheist wouldn't agree.

Then I guess you are destined to cry, watching everyone else succeed while you sit back and whine.
Good luck with that.

Well the best way to prevent people from shaking your house of cards is to not let them in.

Its nice they give deluded old men a place to pat eachother on the back. Without their religion they would surely die.

I can only speak for my lodge and the ones of my particular experience but they are thriving and we're barely staying ahead of the pace of new applications. The "old men" are in the minority in my lodge in particular. As to your last line, with or without religion we all die. It remains to the particulars of our respective faiths and our personal strengths therein whether and what comes after.

We all seem to enjoy it. I even enjoy talking to the old guys. They have a whole lot of knowledge and patience.
I think it's cool talking to people whom you would usually never get to speak with. You learn things you didn't expect.

Are you angry about your lack of faith? You just seem very bitter sometimes. Cheer up. God loves you even if you don't believe in him.

I agree , I enjoy talking to the older members and not just about Masonry . They have lived through more than I and have wonderful stories to pass on .

In my second lodge , the younger members are out numbering the older brethren . I am middle aged and tire of talking about the latest smart phone , iPad , lap top/computer , FB and all these other topics these young men enjoy talking about .
