As long as this thread is semi-digressing and the mention of grammar has been made, I thought I'd use this opportunity to point out the difference between martial law and the OP's reference to Marshall Law.

Martial Law is the imposition of military rule by military authorities over designated regions on an emergency basis.

Marshall Law is a totalitarian regime where all laws are made and upheld by Dr. Rick Marshall from Land of the Lost.

There is a big difference between the two that people should familiarize themselves with.

You cant and dont battle with a foe that is potentially millions of years more advanced!!! You are f.cked!!!

If an ET foe wanted to get rid of us that would be easier then making a cup of coffee!!

My advice is lets be friends!! A more advanced race would more likely be peaceful and that is why we are still breathing!!

Maybe they don't want some random dummy shooting an alien and causing the human species to go extinct...
